I think this is good, but minus the venting part of it.  Corporate guy didn't do anything to you and really probably has to listen to people pregnant dog at him/her all day, every day, about their idiot staff in their stores.  Being reasonable, understanding of their position, but still honest about your disappointment in the way the situation was handled and explaining your concern for the seeming lack of attention to safety in that store should get you the best result.

I'm gonna go with venting, and then getting over it.  The corporate guy may not have had anything to do with the accident, but he has everything to do with the store level response.  If you treat customers like crap, expect them to throw crap back at you.

+2 for letting corporate know how the local store treats you.  Emphasize that you're letting them know of a hazardous situation and with training/follow-up they can protect themselves legally and keep shoppers safe.  (Always point how it helps them, and they'll listen).

I vented...... as in explained what had happened just the same way I spelled it out here.

Corp guy was very nice. I explained to him that I had no intention of sueing them but I was a bit miffed how things were handled after the fact. He offered up a gift card as way of say'n sorry for the crappy service and I said okee dokee to it.

naaa..... I took what was behind door # two. my foot will be fine and it pretty much covered what we spent the day it happened.

lm and I got a free timeshare awhile back... so the vacation thing is taken care of
