the Mikuni TDMR is a flat slide carb with identical (?) performance characteristics to the Keihin.

Has anyone tried it or have a reason not to use it?

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

They look good, and I've used sidedraft flatslide Mikunis on other engines and they work fine.

Seem pricey:

price is a real issue, but the main thing is people want to buy what's been done before.  how many people have fitted mikunis that you know off?  how many have fitted fcr?  that's the difference.  they'd need to be significantly cheaper to get into the fcr market, no matter how good they are.

thanks for the input.  i wonder why mikuni doesn't price them better to siphon off the FCR base...   [bang]

I read somehwere recently that the Mukini's had the ability to fit a TPS and the Keihen's didn't.

they both do.  See the electronic ignition thread about the TCIP4 module.  I figured out another version of the FCRs which comes with the boss for a TPS

I've been told Mikunis have incredibly stiff throttle springs and are more elusive to tune. When people I look up to tell me not to waste my time, I don't argue...

People who believe that FCRs have flimsy springs and are difficult to tune. ;)

Just a tad. ;)
Think Mikunis are quite common & many are more used to them and more Mikuni dealers.

Old Ducs run Dellortos.

They don't/didn't make a downdraft AFAIK.
