Not both sides... but if what Chuck says is true... then I should just do the mod and make sure both sides are even. Maybe a 696 tank would fit... with them plastic thingys on it.

You better drop that thing on the other side and get it over with!  That's my primary deterent if someone asks to ride it, "Ok but if you drop it, it WILL dent the tank and it costs $1000 to replace."

Yeah, I like the 696/1100 solution: ugly but non-ethanol bulging internal plastic tank, vents in the most popular dent area to help avoid that, and flexy outer skins that maybe take a hit better than steel without dimpling.  At $1000 to replace and $400 or so to repair/repaint, old Monster tanks suck.

Those aren't dents.  They're concave turn radius enhancements.  It's the #1 rider mod on Monsters!

Why do you think all the new Monsters have those concave vent thingies?  Ducati saw what a great idea we all had and made it a feature!

 

This reminds me of the marketing guy here at Insitu... heard we were sometimes breaking winglets when the aircraft hit the capture rope, so he made up some story about how it protects the wing... so now the breaking winglets are a "feature."

Hell, then they went and added frangible bolts to the base of the winglets so they break more cleanly.

Ahh... the humor in the evolution of design.  ;-)

If there aren't I'm pretty sure any machinist with a lathe could cut a groove for you in your own set.

That's what I had done for mine. Took a guy on my route about 5 min to do both.

I just got the lowering link and the bar risers in the mail. I know what I am doing this weekend.

chuck and I lowered her yesterday... crikeys... it's too low now... I rode to motocorsa... hit a pothole... and felt the scrape... ugh... looks like I will be raising it back up a bit... and then shaving the seat... oh well....

Um, I think you're putting more load on the suspension than the wife will

Also, if you make it really thin that soft stock foam doesn't really work.  Check the super high density foam they use for kayak seats and supports.  Seems way too firm but is actually very comfy.  Portland Kayak Compnay carries it in various thicknesses.

Need to get Juls on it and see before making more adjustments AND need to get the rake right again too.  THEN make your judgement about it being too low and/or needing to shave a seat.
