The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.  - HST

No, but I'd trade it straight across for a well equipped, low miles DL650.

Sure I could sell my Monster if I was about to buy Kopfjager's bike.

Or any number of other Monsters that are a lot nicer than mine.

If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

I've bought and sold a few Monsters and will likely do that to a few more bikes before I croak.  I've built a few and then sold them off as well.

To answer the OP though:  My *first* Ducati was my 1999 Monster 750 which I evolved (and am still doing so) into the Cafe-Racer.  I've racked up over 30K miles on it and just love that bike.  Pure and simple love.  The answer is No.  I could never sell that one.  No matter what happened to it.  They'll have to bury me with it.  Seriously....

When it comes time for my Monster to go. I will likely give it to my mechanic. It has been my vision, but he did all the work, and I don't think anyone would appreciate it as much as he would.

I wouldn't let him know that.  He may put a hit out on you.  [laugh]

Like 'Stew I've put too much of myself into my Monster to ever sell it.

Maybe decree that it should be given a Viking funeral in the event of my death, or like a faithful servant of the Pharaoh, it should be buried with me.

Or bequeathed to my son or daughter, depending on who can do a better lap time at Sears' Point  [evil]
I own several motorcycles. I have owned lots of motorcycles. And have bolted and/or modified lots of crap to said motorcycles...

I just did  :'(

but I look at the Monster as a truly epic learning experience, I learnt a hell of a lot, I remember buying the bike and being nervous about bolting on simple Carbon fiber
parts, now I don't think twice about Belt changes, removing a swingarm or doing a valve adjustment.
And enjoyed every minute of it  [thumbsup]

Now I have owned a Monster, I will now keep my eye out for the next Monster project  [evil]

Sure.  I'd like to find a good deal on a GSX-R750.  I am also waiting on the FZ8 and BMW S600RR.

I don't have the emotional investment in my bike though.  I haven't put the time and energy in my bike that many on the board have.
