I'm liking the looks of pod filters.

Anyone want to share their experiences with the tpo kit... issues with rain, etc.

You can just go with K&N filters. No need to use the TPO kit.

has some ca-cycleworks branded ones that I've heard are very good and a great price.

I'll be doing this mod myself in the next couple of weeks...

I think the K&N part number is RU-1070

If you go pods with no DP ECU and PC3 on an S2R1000 you are in for some fun.

Be 100% sure you know what you are getting into. Have you read the open/closed loop sticky? Have you searched for the endless struggles of some trying to get the fueling right on a stock S2R1000?

Now, if you are going to go and tune the bike, default pods will give you a boost, but the TPO kit will help even more with their nice intakes.

Don't know about the new-fangled Monsters, but on the 'classics', you'd need to figure out where to put the battery, igniters, and coils.

the ecu, coils (i think), battery, main fuse all hook up to the new airbox, but with some AL fab work i'm sure not too hard to figure out.

You would likely just make a big "U" bracket just like on the old school Monsters. Example:

Not mine, a really well done M900 rebuild (eonan's), here: http://m900.blogspot.com/

The plan for the ecu is a nemisis, and i'm sure that i can get all of the mounting stuff figured out too.  Granted this is all way down the road.  i guess my main concern was water intake.

also, even though i hated fluids, i understand that the rounded corners on the velocity stacks would improve airflow.  IC engines tells me that length of the stacs is a tuning issue.

very nice rebuild pics

thanks guys

Yeah, full ECU replace and remap will solve all the issues with going to pods.

Really feel like I have been plugging TPO all day, but I love their stuff. Here are their intakes as well as their claims.

They have a new set tuned for top end too!

Unfortunately for carb guys, I don't think any of their stuff is applicable (intake-wise). They market mostly for newer bikes, especially in regards to axles, swingarm pivots and the rest made of titanium, and with engine kits. They do have a vent-pod removal kit though, so they don't completely discount the 'classics'.

I think my S2R 800 wants the TPO Beast-R kit.

Has anyone done this and can tell me what, if anything, is attached to the air box? Which I assume will be gone.
The parts catalogue tells me nothing - except that the coils seems to be bolted on to the box.

When you make the move, look at the Microtec.
