LED INDICATORS DONT FLASH?????

Got some nice LED indicators for the S4 but when all connected up they light up but do not flash and there is no relay on S4, do i need to put resisters in line with LEDS or change for bulb indicators?

I have now tried 11ohm 5w resisters on each side and the LEDs still dont flash...any ideas ?

All bikes have a turn signal flasher of some sort.

On my 96 it is located under the seat next to the fuse panel.

You need a heavier duty unit.

I'm wondering if the S4 is the first bike with the flasher integrated into the gauge cluster. It doesn't list one in the pdf file.

If you have a 2001 S4 you have a flasher under the seat (look for a relay with two wires).  If you have a 2002 or newer, the flasher is integrated into the dash, and not considered serviceable.  Before you panic, hook up the old signals and see what happens.  If the old signals flash the flasher is not the problem.  One possibility is reversed polarity.

On the bikes with the flasher integrated into the dash some LED indicators work fine, some will flash too fast (resistors will take care of this) and there is also the possibility of needing a diode to prevent back feed to the other side.  If you have a flasher problem you can make an independent circuit using an external flasher.

It is a 2001 with non electronic speedo but there is no relay  under the seat or tank , the old bulb units work fine , i have tried more and bigger resisters the LEDs work but do not flash. Cannot refit the old units as the mountings are trash the rubber breaks down in this climate i buy new ones every year  and no spares available in thailand .4 weeks delivery  and Local main dealer is hopeless...I hate LEDs  as they are not roadside repairable but no one stocks side lights with old fashioned bulbs , maybe i need some spoecial balace unit which off course no one will have locally.

I put the resitors in parralel and then in series  nouthing doing .

I think the 01 S4 was immobilized also.

The '01 does have the immobilizer, but, at least according to the wiring diagram, has a separate flasher.  And, of course, we know Ducati literature is never wrong

I think Speeddog's is an '01, maybe he can chime in.

Had another go today I have now tried 10ohm 5w resisters on each side of just the rear indicators in parrallel and the LEDs  now work fine with a nice regular blink rate so  all is good.
