So I am going to Bonnaroo for the 2nd time this summer and last time I had a great time seeing new bands but missed out on some that were really good because I didn't know them. I'm hoping that the crazy mix of musical preferences that are all over this place can help me see some bands I either don't know or shouldn't miss. Below is a list of all the artists, those in red are the ones I know I want to see.  If you see any bands you like that I shouldn't miss let me know.  Thanks.

Two of the best shows I've seen in the last few years:
LCD Soundsystem - Virgin Fest - electronic, really rocked the crowd
The Avett Brothers - Baltimore Arts Festival - alt country - totally rocked the crowd - think rowdy hony tonk band

The National - never seen them live, but they are in my heavy rotation.

Mellow grooves:

Thievery Corporation - seen them a bunch in DC - electronic, but their latest album is kinda world beaty - I wouldn't miss them.
She & Him - I've got a thing for Zooey Deschanel.
Calexico - sometimes mellow, sometimes rocking.  Have a SW mexican flavor.  I grew up going to their shows in Tucson and see them every chance I get.  If they brought all their brass with them it will be a great show.

AVOID Dan Deacon Ensemble - his music sounds like the chipmunks on acid in a bad way

Norah Jones, Medeski Martin & Wood,

Above are the two I'd see of those no one else has mentioned.

Norah Jones is a jazz singer. I saw her with Charlie Hunter at Yoshi's in Oakland, CA back in 2001 (Songs from the Analog Playground -- his best CD IMO). Jazz singing isn't really my style usually, but she was very good. The few songs she did with Charlie Hunter (who is f'ing amazing by the way) were better than the stuff on her own IMO...but she'd be worth seeing.

MMW just straight rocks.  [evil] Again, this is jazz...but their style is way out there eclectic jazz with lots of energy and weird sounds. If Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine guitarist) moved over to jazz, this might be what he came up with.  [thumbsup] I would really like to see these guys live!

Come on guys any more suggestions?

Anyone else going?  I would love to meet up with some fellow DMF'rs

Wow!!  What a diverse line up.

Punch Brothers (Bluegrass)...Chris Thile's band since the break up of Nicklecreek a few years back.  One bad ass mandolin player.   [bow_down]

Steve Martin & the Steep Canyon Rangers...Bluegrass....Forget his acting he plays a mean ass banjo.   [thumbsup]

+11ity billion to MMW

Jazz electronica if such genre could even exists.

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band...old time country.

Zac Brown Band...modern country.
