On the 405 North between just south of the 10 and Santa Monica there is/was some construction going on in the number 1 lane. I commute here every day and I have noticed something that I wanted to pass along. When they repaved, the surface is extremely uneven in the right side of the lane, which makes it a bit tricky handling wise when you are splitting lanes between number 1 & 2. But more important, about a foot from the jersey barrier that separates the North and South bound lanes there is some really uneven pavement. I'm noticing that this is causing people in cars to just pull to the righ real quick to get off of it. If you're splitting that 1 & 2 you're going to notice a much higher amount of people just jamming into your space, so be careful out there. You know, more than the usual.

Thanks for the heads up!  Though I dont frequent that area, I appreciate riders looking out for each other.

In my previous motorcycle riding life, I had some scary moments on freeways undergoing repair. In the early 80s, the 405 through the South Bay curve was being widened and repaved and it was nasty.

I remember years ago there was a local rider who was cruising at night and just suddenly ate shit when he hit a pothole and totalled his bike.

Good lookin' out zenjim. Every time I come home from school something has changed and it's hard for me to keep up with all the potholes. The last time I was on the 134/210 west on my way to ACH there was a giant pothole in the 2nd lane from the right shortly before the 2. I was checking my mirror to change lanes when I hit it and almost went over the bars. Can't remember if they filled it yet.

(not that i ride on the street anymore, but) big seams in the freeways around here were always on my list of least favorite things.

freeways are good for stand-up wheelies at 100 MPH and mohawks.

I ride the 405 to the 10 on my daily commute.  I did notice the crappy roads yesterday.  I also noticed the huge sign saying "Look twice for motorcyclists" which I appreciated.

I've seen it all along the 405 down here in O.C.

Glad to see the reminder.  I just hope they do this frequently through out the year and every year there after.

Saw a Vespa down on the 405 north today around 1pm.  Not sure what it was doing on a freeway, that's ballsy.

Now, there's lane splitting, and then there's being a menace to everyone on the road.  I was lanesplitting safely earlier today when a large group of apparent GSX enthusiasts blew by me at a clip that anyone would consider reckless.  I can't imagine that crowd is doing much to make drivers heed the warnings on the billboards.  405 at rush hour is not Laguna Seca.

Wow, I totally missed that! Maybe there's hope for America after all.

Nature has it's own way of dealing with those guys.

I remember there being a fat guy on a scooter that used to try and race me splitting through traffic in the OC. All sorts of nuttos out there and not all on gixxers.
