I feel the same way about DHL...they truly suck.

Both UPS and Fed-Ex work great for me.

The UPS driver is a riot...

Fed-Ex ground has a lot of turn over, but they know where I am.

DHL stopped doing domestic shipping business in the USA well over a year ago. Guess they did truly suck.

Why all the hatred for UPS?

I can probably say I have shipped more packages through UPS than most people on here.

In the past 3.5 years I have shipped >3000 items via UPS.

1. Never once has a packaged been lost
2. Never once has a package and contents been damaged
3. I have only had 4 packages delayed due to "service issues" from weather or timing
4. I've shipped to every state in the United States.

I've had pretty good luck with both UPS and Fedex, depends a lot on your drivers.

I must get really lucky on where I ship because I've never had a damaged or mis-delivered package.

I will only ship through UPS. They rock.

I used to load trucks at UPS.

We were never nice to packages.  ;)

If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

I will totally agree on this front.

My cousin has worked for UPS for 15 years. He started loading trucks and has since moved up the food chain.

When you are a truck loader, you get rated on how many boxes you get in a truck. He said he would literally stack boxes and then run full force into them to smash them in to get more in the truck. He is a big dude. About 245lbs of muscle.

I guess I pack my boxes very well with plenty of internal protection, etc.

I've just never had one issue with this service.

Best to assume that packages are always mistreated when out of your hands no matter who the carrier, always important to pack them properly.

USPS tracking is 50% for me.

Used it once on priority mail, and it tracked, and confirmed delivery.

Used it when mailing documents registered mail and it only updated once, to let me know the post office had taken possession of my package, and after that nobody had any idea where it was.

So as far as government services go, I guess the post office does better than average.

They're missing out on an effective method - loader/driver cooperation - when I worked in removals, once in a while it just wasn't enough room for that last piece. Rolling out of sight, slam on the brakes, go back and voil'a another foot of space [coffee]

I'm with Cyrus here, I accept and ship 5 to 10 packages per business day with ups without much issue.
Every bike I've ever owned.

It must be a regional thing. I've had several of issues with UPS.

2 packages from Amazon that got returned because of "Incorrect Address". Never had that issue with anyone else.
2 packages sent Next Day Air that required me to go to the regional depot (not even the one closest to my house) to pick them up. 50 mile round trip
Several packages late. As in, tracking them they show up in a nearby facility and then it's 3 days before they show "Out for Delivery"

Fedex is slightly better in that their facility is 5 miles away so it's easy to go pick my stuff up.
USPS I've never had a major problem with. I've got some battered packages, but they came from Europe, so lord knows where they got battered, and they got a package to a friend of mine in Chile in 2 days when FedEx would have been over a week and UPS simply said no.

I've shipped to every state in the continental US and Hawaii.

Also shipped to most countries in Europe.

Never a package lost.

Maybe my local sort facility is good? I really don't know.
