What's good / bad about a 900ie engine?

Monster Noob here .... Rebuilding a low-mileage 900ie  ....

How good or bad is this motor? What do I need to do to it (if at all)?  Not looking for speeds above 150 km/h

I've heard nothing bad about that engine in particular.

Nothing bad that I can think of. Good aggressive cams from the factory, good parts availability, and it sounds good.

Well, if it is not broken don't fix it.  I am new to Ducati, and was just wondering if there is anything in this particular lump that I should watch out for.

Looks like a good oil change, valve clearance are needed and I'm good to go.

They'll go an easy 60K and have gone 120K w/o a rebuild if you treat 'em right.  Bullet-proof may not exist....but this motor is damn close.

Yes,  what motors have the tranys that would work?

I "believe" the only motor that had the close ratio was the "S" models of the monster. Again, I "believe" you could tell what was close/wide by looking at the front sprocket and if it was offset, it was close and if it was centered it was wide. <-- I could also be talkiing out of my ass completely as it's been so long.

Hence, why I ask the question in the first place.
