Aftermarket rear lever replacement options? (levers only, not rearsets)
«
on:

Does anybody know if there are any aftermarket options for replacing the OEM rear brake and shift levers on an S2R800? I don't want to do a complete rearset upgrade, just the levers. Or are there any rearsets out there that just the levers can be purchased and are compatible with the OEM setup? Any assistance/knowledge on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The only aftermarket foot control levers for all Ducatis are the reverse pattern "GP shift" levers. The aftermarket brake levers are typically for superbikes where the master mounts to the engine. If you've boned your foot controls, you should be able to find some in the parts-for-sale board or at your dealer.

Thanks for the reply ato. Nah, didn't bone them. (this time, heheh) Replaced the brake pedal with OEM off ebay that time. I replaced the footpegs with Oberon footpegs and MFW Adjustable footpeg mounts. I'm very happy with the setup now except for the levers/pedals. I've been looking at the bike and just don't like the look of the OEM rear levers. Looks like this may turn out to be custom work I'll have to have done later on if something else doesn't make itself available.

i've been looking at the same thing and came to the conclusion that there are no rear brake levers on the market, and the only shifters are gp.
lemme know if you get some custom work figured out... might have you make two sets

That brake lever will not work on s*r rearsets
Notice where the brake light switch is activated, and where the master cylinder attaches. Harder to see is how it fits around the rearset

Found some replacement break and gear levers on the MFW website (
http://www.mfw-wolf.de/en/products/replacement-levers
) though they didn't have anything listed for the Monster. I purchased a set of their vario footpedal mounts from Monsterparts and am very pleased with them. I've emailed them asking if they plan on carrying replacement levers for the S2R/S4R. I was thinking that if enough people wrote in they would possibly start carrying replacement levers for the Monsters too.

Punx is completely right about the SSR brake lever, despite what their website says. I have one sitting in my apartment that I am going to be sending back in a day or two. The SSR reverse shift lever is pretty good to go, but I also ordered the Chinese Rizoma knock-off reverse shift lever and am going to decide which I want to use on the bike and sell the other.
In the end, since I couldn't find a decent brake lever, I ended up going with a set of the Gilles Tooling rearsets:
http://www.gillestooling.com/en/motorrad_artikel.php?h_name=Ducati&m_id=218
for $510 from Indy Superbikes:

imo, ~$500 for rearsets is a good deal. relatively speaking, since we ride ducs.

I actually haven't seen any rearset kits that I've really liked. I did like the MFW rear levers and hopefully they will make them for Monsters. If not I will look into custom options, maybe even modifying those SSRs that Jeff mentioned earlier. I've already asked Motocreations about making replacement levers too. This is definately not something that needs to be done immediately but I am just looking into possible options.

There are lots of options out there. Sometimes you have to track down a vendor, but there's lots out there.
Here's a short list (though I've done most of my research for DSS Monsters):
DP / Red Racing / S&P / Motowheels
Rizoma
SpeedyMoto
AG Hammer
AGRAS
LSL
SATO
MS
MetalTech
Corse
Acculign
Woodcraft
among others.
