Does anyone here make those homebrew clutch retaining tools, using the old plates?

I figure I could do it but I am lazy.  If you can make one, give me a PM and let me know how much.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

You may not need a tool.

I recently replaced my clutch on my S4. I sat on the bike, put it in 6th gear, stepped hard on the rear brake and my lad heaved on the wrench. The nut came off and went back on with no problems.

Holding the basket to remove the basket bolts, I used a steel ruler wedged into the basket slots and a bolt head on the case. Again no problems.

sounds great for you, but i want the tool.  the clutch i'm putting on is close to a $1k.

not to mention, my lad is 9 months old and won't be heaving on any wrenches (unless it's vomit) for a while.

make sure its retourqed to 136ft lbs or 186 NM  thats the latest ducati spec.

Desmotimes only charges $68 for one.  Probably not a lot more than it would cost to have someone make you one.  ???

that litterally looks like all your clutches ontop of each other, drilled, bolted together, and a handel welded on. Total cost to make ? free if you have a spare pipe of the same metal. looks like steel.

rebelpacket

I've done it for a few people before.  If you have the clutch plates, I could weld one together for you.

If you go to a dealer or independent shop that works on Ducs I bet they have a few extra plates lying around.  Welding is a nice way to make the tool, but nuts and bolts will work.

Save your money on shipping and craigs list a local welder. Support the community?  [beer] you  could defintely go about with 3 bolts on the handle, but at the cost of buying drill bits that can eat through all that steel, you might as well throw a 24pack of budlight towards a local welder for 5 minutes of his time
