Rode my gf's Multi 620 up to her place (25 miles) today.  All superslab in 6th gear, 5000rpm in 50F and windy weather.  The engine temp guage read 194F.

That seems hot to me.

Anyone? Is this normal?

You have a bike with a radiator and an oil cooler.

I think that's pretty typical for a 620.

Yup. That's normal. The bike will shut itself off if it gets north of like 320.

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

In retrospect, that's only about 50F hotter than my bike.

Well the 620 is the oil temp - is the S4R the water temp?

And my 620 ran 250. And in hot day traffic, 270 or so.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

It is on my 996.

If his water temp is -50 from 194...it's pretty cold.

Same here.  100 degrees during the summer, i think I saw 290 after a long run on the highway.

sure about that? im pretty sure i broke 320 a few times.

Actually, no. I don't remember the exact number. I just remember that when I owned my '03 620, I read in the owner's manual that the ECU will shut the bike off if the oil temp hits some preset number, and I remember that it's north of 300 degrees. Might be 350.

on a 620 without an oil cooler mine was commonly up in the 230-280 range in the summer and in 50 degree weather it would be up to 150-180 normally.

with an oil cooler, barely ever hits 240 anymore, and in the 50 degree weather only really gets up to around 150-160 tops.

i have a manual shut off at 330. ill park that shit if it hits there. my friends 695 would hit 280-290 and it would ride like crap. compared to 240. he would just pull over.

my front cylinder, because of me running the temp up has horrific paint problems. peeling cracking, its dark and disgusting while my top cylinder looks nice.

Autostrada Pilot

As others have said, my 620 would hit 270 or so on a hot day.....no worries.

If it was up to 300+ consistently, I'd be looking into an oil cooler.

Yes, that's close to what temps my multi 620 would read in similar conditions.  In the rain the temps are surprisingly low but it has something to do with where the temp pickup is located.

I don't think I've ever seen temps over 270.  I'm talking stop and go traffic on a hot day.

beatcat

My 620 monster was running around 220 stopped in boston downtown traffic on a 70 degree day. Felt pretty warm to me too. I can't imagine it on our usual 90 degree summers!!
