Well so I'm told.
Had a call from George this afternoon with the question do you want the good news or the bad news.

I said well, the good news is it's fixed, the bad news is it cost $$$ to do so.
Basically I was right, fixed it is and in the end it was the starter motor causing the problems.

So reco-ed starter in and she's back to life.
I'll be going out Thursday to collect it so I'll let you know after a ride of course.
I can now say I'll be there for our next little outing in April and not on the scooter.

Said check the starter motor.
On sunday dropped out the starter it was shagged
and the sprag gear clutch.

Have to take of the alternator cover  just to remove the starter motor.
and remove the fly wheel to get the sprag clutch out.

Got  good low klm used parts coming from the US Desmo porsche.
And cheap ;)

Top news Matty  [thumbsup].... What a barsted that its taken so long to snif out the problem. still better new regarding the starter than ECU. At least you can use a reconditioned starter which shouldn't be too $$$

... just don't forget you are no longer on the scoot-scoot ... the throttle response will be a little different

... but a new one (coming from one of the 'Stroodle guys on Turismo) will probably cost you ECU type money

Matty, did they say what was actually wrong with the starter motor?

That's good news Matty.

There is something to be said of self diagnosing of car/bike problems. You were correct in the starter motor yet it's taken a while for mechanics to find that out. Trust your instincts mate, you were obviously on the ball  [thumbsup]
