Damn that bike is HAWWTTT!!! Everytime I see pics of this thing, it makes me feel like I'm just wasting time and money with my bike.
I envy you, but in a nice way. Congrats on the magazine

I know I'm in the minority when I say this but I don't like Celli's bike. Of course I do not intend to offend Mr. Celli, and will definitely give him an A++ for the effort and creative thinking that went into it, but I feel it's horribly overdone. It's like a case study in obsessive compulsive disorder; a cartoon. Reminds me of an Italian professor of mine from school; every six months she would go to Switzerland for plastic surgery and come back looking even more perpetually surprised than she did before, with lips swollen from collagen injections and two bandaids on both sides of her temples, wearing a hat. Yeah Pucci, we know what you went and did,
again
. Like the Marcel Duchamp
Fountain
version of an S2R1000. Dada Ducati. The Michael Jackson Celebrity Plastic Surgery edition. Doesn't look like much of a rider's bike to me.
I am prepared for the consequences of my actions, and for having a differing opinion. I swear I'm not trying to be rude, and I'm not trying to raise the grain here. Just trying to reveal a truth about the situation with Celli's bike. Modern deconstructivist art isn't always beautiful, and perhaps the beauty here isn't in the physical alteration itself, but in the
idea
of radical change. The bike itself is quite ugly and nonfunctional. Ducati already makes a beautiful machine. The final form of the Ducati motorcycle has already been decided for the most part. Remaking what has already been made, to this extreme degree, is like masturbation. Pointless. It's almost being destructive and disrespectful. Nobody takes a Van Gogh and spray paints graffiti on it and expects to be 'applauded' for improving the painting. I'm not against modding a bike, on the contrary. There's a point where it becomes egregious and obscene though. Like vanity gone berserk. To me, DuckStew's SS2R is much more droolworthy. A wonderful, cohesive, and respectful transformation of an already beautiful machine that can be
ridden
.
Flame on!!! I've had five espressos already, I'm bored, fire away.

to a purist, Celli's bike is quite out there.
If I may, Celli.
Celli is an artist. and his artistic interpretation of the Ducati Monster is his own vision. I'm certain not meant to improve or discredit the original but to be different than it for the sake of being different.
There are many people out there doing things to motorcycles that are obscene to say the least (OCC's Spiderman Monster 1100 anyone?).
Celli's in not obscene, just extreme.

The more a bike is customized to your taste and requirements the smaller the audience it will appeal to. The exception to this is the elimination of goberment mandated stuff like reflectors and carbon canisters.

I'm an artist as well. I'm a design architect in reality, but I do paint and sculpt in my garage. I'm well invested in the creative realm, that's where I dwell professionally and personally. I appreciate Celli's art. The oversized still lifes of sunflowers and fruit bowls are really beautiful. So the deeper
idea
of Celli's bike, the
radical
nature of it, actually does appeal to my sensibilities. The audacity of taking something beautiful and deflowering it. Therein lies the art in Celli's bike, for me.
I just don't like the look at all though. I apologize to Celli and really don't intend to be rude. I would say that I'd be curious to see how far he can take it.

I can agree with him. I love cellis bike, until he put this light on it, and the tail cowl thing, its just too much now. Its still an inspiration though. It keeps me dreaming with possibilities, but yeah, its too much now
good for him and the mag though!

I have always loved Celli's bike. I also preferred his lambo headlight to his current one. The jury is still out on the seat cowl. I love to look at what he's done. His oil cooler fairings had inspired me to make my own oil cooler fairings, similar idea but different.

no, you are stating opinion. One I disagree with but respect as an OPINION.
you talk about the monster as though its a piece of high art or a perfected pinnacle of motorcycle design. it isnt. its a parts bin bike ducati puts out for people who want something a bit different and/or who want a ducati but cant afford a SBK.
There is a reason nobody tries to spray paint a van gough, people dont like it when other people piss on somebody else's creative vision.
by the by, piss poor form to come and talk shit on a dudes bike in a thread he started so that he could celebrate being in a magazine.

So dissenting opinions are suddenly poor form even when stated logically and politely?

I'd have to disagree that the Monster is merely a parts bin bike, it's one Miguel Angel Galluzzi's artistic vision. Look it up. The fact that he slammed a bike together out of 'parts' from a 'bin' to become the greatest selling Ducati icon of all time makes him a genius. Like Warhol's soup can series, only a lot cooler. To me it is high art, right out of the box. Can't say that about an SV650. Celli's creation is a
deconstruction
of Galluzzi's genius.
Dissent apparently will not be tolerated on this board!
LOL that's OK. I gave Celli credit for the work he put into it. I do like his paintings. All I was doing was offering a differing opinion.
