I am new to this forum, and I joined so I could get feedback on questions like this.  I have a 2003 monster 620 ie and I am doing custom work to it.  I want to put a 6" wide wheel on the back and I have a few questions.  I spoke to a dealership in the Detroit area and he said  that a wheel off of a gsx 1000 would fit between my swing arm, will be 6 inches wide, and will match the stock wheel I have up front.  Does anyone have any feedback on this?  I am no bike mechanic, me and a buddy are building this bike.  If anything, is there anyone who can tell me what to look for in terms of dimensions and spacing.  I don't want to buy a wheel and it not fit.  I have tried searching for this for a while and never get any solid information.

Please help!

Sincerely,

Dan

I put a 5.5" with a 170 tire on a 620....and it barely fit
i dont think a 6 will clear on the chain side.

What wheel was that?  What bike did you get it off of?  Thanks for your reply.

it was an alpina wire spoke wheel.
but if you are looking for a 5.5" rear wheel, the easiest way is to find a wheel from a 900 or 1000 monster or supersport
02+ will fit without changes, earlier versions will need the bearings changed to your size

Go check the ducati.ms classifieds.  There was a guy parting out a 1000 not long ago.  Had aluminum swingarm and wheel for very reasonable prices.  If you want a wider rear that'd be the way to go.

---edit---

Found it....but someone may have already scooped them up.

+1 on 5.5"

You might be able to shoehorn in a 5.75" + 180 tire, but I'm not positive. That'd be an aftermarket wheel like a BST for sure.
