So I'm getting ready to swap tanks to my new tank and I am swapping out the plastic fuel line connectors so i figured I would change the internal tank hoses. Unfortunately they are over 50 bucks for the 3 little hoses from the dealer. I found a couple online that might work for a lot cheaper.

There are 3 hoses needed in my S4 tank
TUBE 7.5X14.5 900 MONSTER/00  (59011251A)     $29.99
TANK-FILTER FUEL HOSE 900HM/01  (59011571A ) $4.99
TANK PLUG DRAIN TUBE 900 HM/01 (59011581A)  $16.99

Prices via Ducati Omaha

I found online 12" sections of 5/16" Gates Submersible Fuel Line for 22.00 shipped
( http://www.clubrsx.com/cr/GTE-27093.html? )
My question is the how long do each of those hose sections need to be? I can't tell by the picture

The 5/16" line is for the pump to filter to tube. Usually one length will do it.

The smaller ID hoses for the vent and cap area drain are smaller and I've never seen them available aftermarket.

Just because I've never seen them doesn't mean they aren't out there.

Why do you think you need new hoses, or is this a project that came without the hose?

I've been looking for a few years now and have not been able to find 1/4" or 6mm submersible fuel line. There's plenty of 1/4" fuel line, but none of it is rates as submersible.

The 5/16" / 8mm is made by Gates (30R10) and sold in a bunch of places.

If you're very careful taking off the original, it 'might' not rip apart at the ends on you and then you could re-use it. I don't know what Ducati is using for theirs or more importantly where they get it from because it is submersible.

<-- basically confirming what DP is saying above.

On the old carburettor bikes, my fuel filter, vacuum petcock and fuel pump (vacuum) is all external. What kind of hosing would I have internally? (And how does one go about accessing it?)

Right, I've got two small hoses exiting my tank - one a drain, the other a vent, I'm sure. I don't recall being able to see these hoses internal counterparts from the filler hole though. if I was to see these, how would one go about replacing them? My hands don't exactly fit in to the tank, and there's no larger hole on the bottom.

Actually, there's four hoses, items 9, 10, 11, and 13.

I'm not sure if you can actually *get* the hose from clubrsx.com, IIRC the last time I checked they didn't have any.

The price on af1racing.com is more like what I paid.

The lines in your tank are steel tubing. No replacement necessary, or even possible. ;)

Thank goodness.
I'll add that you should make sure the tubes stay clear. I've repaired those tanks and the drain tube has been blocked. If it rusts through from the inside it would be a real issue.
