going to depend on your bike... but with some hunting and ingenuity, you can get older Pantah "penis" belt covers to fit.
they are aluminum, you can brush them as you see fit...

often times they pop up on ebay.


rizoma makes a set with lexan windows that is aluminum.

I do recall someone chopping a gap into them and fitting them on a 900 once, it looked really cool.

97 M750 came with those covers as well
like these- (i think these are the pantah ones, but same deal minus the logo)

I've got the Rizoma covers on my M800.  Had them for 15k miles or more.  The lexan will get a slight tint to it (from heat maybe), but they do sell replacements.  I've never regretted buying them.

As cool as those are though Im thinking the Pantah covers might fit my bike better!!! but if anyone has used those rearsets let me know!!!!
