I Ride: a 2005 S2R 800 (sold)

« on: March 13, 2010, 01:44:02 AM »

Hey guys, I'm planning a 6 day, 3770 mile trip across the western part of the US and I am planning to make my second stop around Los Angeles.  I'm not expecting anyone to say yes, but I was wondering if any of my fellow DMFers would be willing to let me stay with them for a night.  I'll be in Los Angeles on May 11th and I promise that I'll be quiet  Grin  I'm just a broke college student looking for a long ride to blow off some steam after a tough semester.  Have a great weekend and ride safe waytogo

the ride plan so far http://www.mapquest.com/mq/8-6kgIgsNfcS4S3AHxwiqJ

Why are you running the 5 so much? You just want a lot of distance? If you'd prefer more enjoyment and less miles/hour you should run the 1 and 101 up and down the coast instead of the 5. The 5 has some LOOONG stretches of freeway with nothing. Make sure you plan your fuel stops well.

If you happen to find your way to 101 and San Luis Obispo, I've got floor space and a garage.

+1, the 5 will be a bore, the 1 and even the 101 offer much more.

Riding through Gilroy will be fun, Garlic Capital of the World

I've driven from the southern Ca. area to Portland Or. more times than I'd like to count.  I'm guessing you just went with what mapquest suggested to you.  There are many much cooler routes than that one right there.  I would know, I've done them all.  If you are interested in some alternatives let me know.
