Isn't this the behavior that has been getting him in trouble?

absolutely not...

the problem is simply that he is not wired well enough to assume the responsibility for the consequences of his own actions and choices

and he comes here and whines about those consequences

If I deliberately stick a fork in my eye I won't come here expecting sympathy because I can't see right anymore

This guy has more short circuits in his synaptic firings than anyone here is going to successfully trouble shoot.

And even if you laid out his entire pathological map in front of him, dragged out the re-enactment dolls and had him show you what went wrong when Uncle Ernie took him camping alone and explained it to him...

it would not matter...there is a giant canyon that needs to be leapt between recognition/realization and reconciliation

folks don't change until the pain of staying the same outweighs their fear of change

and Piller is quite comfortable cycling through his familiar pathological behaviors and getting attention/sympathy and in his warped mind,,, reassurance

Pain provokes change and improves listening skills....even an amoeba knows enough to move to the far end of the petri dish if sufficient voltage is applied to one end

But understand one very unfortunate fact of life....some people actually enjoy being unhappy and miserable

and some people are like lab rats scurrying through the cranial maze looking for "self" ......always smelling the aroma of the cheese but never finding the chunk

some wise stuff from the Rat . . .

You left out the fact that he is also a big fat liar, or at best someone who exaggerates a lot probably in order to more fully satisfy the urge for chaos you detailed above. The worst part is that he needs to believe his own lies/exaggerations.

Question, what do you think the nature of his abuse was as a child? I'm thinking either mean drunk of a dad and a mom that moved him around a lot but never really spent all that much time with him, or well meaning dad that was driven away by crazy addict of a mother who was more worried about her next high and boyfriend than the bothersome kid.

Sac...extreme neglect coupled with physical abuse...sexual or violent...drugs/alcohol abuse put him in a high probability category for the physical abuse...hence my reference to his Uncle...high probability that he grew up in a substance abuse broken household and was exposed to drunk Mom's pedophile parent or boyfriend

his core sense of self never materialized or came together....or he hid it like a buried treasure as a kid to protect it and he lost the map back to it

he likes to think he is "someone" but in fact HE really does not exist...

his entire sense of "self" is derived from externals....there is a void where an internally generated sense of self exists in most humans...call it the soul the spirit whatever...he does not have it...Native Americans I forget which Nations described the insane as people who had no spirit or who had lost their souls

so he is lost in the carnival funhouse using people as mirrors to give him a reflection of what he puts in front of them

as long as there are mirrors he can work with, he can pretend he is real and does not have to do the hard or impossible work of establishing or exhuming what was never born or was buried very early on

so while some folks here may think I am brutal...actually I am not even touching him...there is nothing to connect to....I am merely offering a reflection he probably does not like but meh...there are other reflections that make him happy here...attention is craved...doesn't matter if it is my sort or some of the other more compassionate people's sort

like I said living off the aroma of cheese never finding the chunk...the guy is pure vaporware whether he is actually a bag of flesh or some mindfark Cyrus is pulling to amuse himself

That was well put. When he uses phrases like, "my addictive personality" instead of "I'm an addict" what you said really comes to light. Everything is externalized. Particularly blame is externalized, but damn near everything else as well. Its almost enough to make me feel bad for the guy. And I would if he showed the slightest sign of actually wanting to deal with himself.

In the meantime its fun to play amateur psychologist.  [popcorn]

And before anyone starts whining about how we are picking on poor poor Piller, remember he is the one that posts this crap. You don't get to wear a blouse cut down to your navel and then berate people for staring at your boobs.

Wow, this thread has really taken a turn for the pedantic.  The ratio of Piller posts to detailed analysis of his very soul is... disproportional. Can we at least get back to hurling insults or offering conditional support?
Also, I am not sure how Piller managed to create sympathy fatigue in the 50 or so posts since his return.  And I don't remember the sentiment on TOB being "oh goddamnit, not another Piller post."   For the record, I am not defending him personally, but the level of civility and now levity of the board.
