Hoping to pick up my new 2010 Monster 696 tomorrow afternoon weather and work permitting.

Is there anything that I need to get the dealership to do when I take posession of the bike?  I've read some posts where some people mentioned something about getting the shocks set for the weight of the rider but wasn't to sure if this applied to my situation.  Can this even be done on the 696?  Anything else I need to know and ask them?

I already know about the 14T gear, but I wanted to ride with the default and if I need to, I'll get a change with my first service.

Thanks!

Randy.

How much do you weigh? If it's more than a thin Italian then you should have the suspension adjusted. Factory is for someone who is around 160 pounds.

If you need to do this give them a call and arrange a time slot to deal with it same day. And bring your normal riding gear for set up - it adds weight. That is if you were not planning to ride it off the lot. Oh and be sure to try to get that adjustment done user their set up fee if possible

If you're a real big fella you may actailly need different springs for the best of what your suspension can give - but that's a longer process

Apart from the simple suspension adjustment I'd suggest riding it stock for a little while before making any changes.

Have fun, ride safe! [moto]

I'm about 145 lbs so I'm guessing that's going to be good and shouldn't require any changes.  Thanks for the confirmation!

And no to the Termie's.  I may add that at a later date, but no plans right now.  I'm actually quite happy with the way the bike sounds stock.  But then I'm coming from a Ninja 250 so of course the ducati is going to sound great compared to my old bike.  Smiley

Thanks guys.  Should be a good ride tomorrow

At 145 lbs they will probably say the factory suspension set up is fine.

Enjoy the new ride!

FIFY indeed... yea rolling towards 220 in gear I tend to forget that there are folks who can be lighter than the factory spring settings.

Enjoy the purchase - Just remeber to take it easy on the new rubber until it's scrubbed in

Alright here's the pictures as promised.  Had to sneak out of work a bit early to get to the dealership before they closed at 6.  My girlfriend snapped the pictures.

Goodbye little ninja.  You served me well these last two years.

My new Monster 696

Close up of the tank showing off the pearl white paint job.  Well kinda.  Looks better in the sun.

Different angle of the bike.

And lastly here I am getting ready to Vroom Vroom all the way home.  I love the way this bike sounds...

Note:  Yes, I will be removing the side reflectors on the front forks.  Smiley  Also buying new boots, jacket, gloves to suit the bike more.  Just waiting for stock to come in.
