If anyone from the northeast is reading, you know that 3 day rainstorm that passed by? I rode in it for about 2 hours and left my bike sitting in it for another 3.

Rode the bike home, and sprayed it down with fresh water and left it in my garage till today (3 days later)

I take the bike out and on my way to school about 1/2 mile from my house, the check engine light goes on.

Im pretty sure its the guages that are wet inside causing this, but i cant be sure until i opened her up and take a look around, i left her sitting in the sun to dry the guages up (theres condensation in the gauges right now). And when i pressed my left blinker the check engine light blinks off beat (if the blinker is on, then the check engine is off, and vice versa). Thats my cue that i think my guages are just wet and thigns are going nuts inside.

Any other reason why that light may have come on? i have the MAINT signal on for the past i dunno 3,000 miles or so.

Just wet...

open them up and dry them out.

Anyway i can prevent this from happening? i was thinking about just applying some silicone around edge.

dude, you drove in a frigging monsoon on Saturday.  I was afraid you were going to get water in there. I would seriously pull the gauges cover off and run a hairdryer on lowto get all the moisture out.  otherwise you might get that immobilizer problem like industrial girl got  and the bike might not start.

Get rid of the immobilizer!!!! Reflash the ecu and be done with it. I left my bike out in the rain for 8 hours at work, and this is California rain...and the gauges were completely ruined. Marelli is giving Lucas electronics a real run for their money as far as unreliability is concerned. A reflashed DP ecu and an acewell gauge that can run underwater has solved my issues. No more problems with riding in the rain.

damn, im still waiting for that acewell to come out. it seems amazing, I got a hold of Trent at Electrosport and he said it should be about 280-300 and it should be available at the end of this month......

those food vacuum sealers work really well to get the moisture out of a guage cluster

Don't ride in the rain with that bike.

It's not the bike...just the gauges.

??? huh?   I don;t have one so dunno how that would work.

he man I know hardly anything will keep you from riding. so once you get it dry again, keep a thick clear plastic bag under the seat you can throw over the gauges if rains.....and get rid of the immobilizer...

thats probably a good idea, except i dont have a place to put a plastic bag underneath my seat. lol its okay though, the suns comming out and it probably wont be raining much anymore. I started the bike up today and the light went away, ill open her up and make sure everythings dry and clean out any corrosion.

And then see if i can get some sort of a gasket to seal it up.
