I'm looking for some inline connectors I can put on my fuel lines that seal when they're disconnected.  The stock connectors are okay, I don't think they really let much fuel spill out, but when I have my tank off for a while (like while I adjust my valves), they let plenty of fumes out, and it makes my whole garage stink!

I found these here:
http://www.aerostich.com/gas-line-quick-disconnect.html

Anyone know if they would do the trick?  They have two sizes, 1/4" and 5/16".  Anyone know what size ID our fuel lines are?

Occasionally AFM #702  My stuff:  The M1000SS, a mashed r6, Vino 125, the Blonde, some rugrats, yuppie cage, child molester van, bourbon.

Nice...  does the single shut off mean that only one side is sealed when they're disconnected?  I wonder if that's how the Aerostich ones are as well.

I'm not sure, but I *think* that's right. That was my understanding, at lesat.  I've got the dual shut-off.

It helps if you attach them so that one lines has the female end on top and the other line has the male end on top (yes, I know how that sounds).  That way, you won't get the lines crossed when you reconnect.

They are a bit cheaper on mcmaster (depending on what design you use.

but i still want to know the inner diameter of the hose before i order. i want to get 2 sets, so i can swap between my plastic and metal tank.

$29.99 is a bit steep. but a lot of things from motion pro, however they have high quality stuff so you are getting what you pay for.

Anecdotally, one of MP quick disconnects failed on my bike after two years.  I replaced it.  Dunno if that means anything.  If I had to do it again, I might go for the metal ones, but I'm not sure where to get 'em.  I can measure mine (the disconnect, you sickos) this evening if neither of you guys gets an answer as to the proper size before tonight.

I just bought a set of metal disconnects with the auto-shutoff feature for my 996 for $50 from:

the OEM plastic ones from the dealer would have cost like 3x as much

I did that so it was idiot proof.  And so far, I see that it's working.  ;D

Well, I tried suckin' on one of 'em to see if there was bourbon inside, so you probably should have attached a label to the lines or disconnects saying, "NOT A STRAW."

My experiences with quick connects has been poor , i have tried seeral brands  ,plactic and metal all failed very quickly .

On my S4 I have put an inline fuel tap on so i can stop fuel flow when tank is removed .

Paegelow

Nice!  Those metal ones are pretty cheap.  Now, does anyone remember what size ID our fuel lines are?

jerry,
What inline disconnects are you using? I've got an S4 and I'm about to swap tanks and would like to put auto shutoffs on so I dont have to worry.
