Suspension Set-up on 2000 M750

So, well the bike is in my shop and down for the next month while I sort out the fuel system, I was thinking it might be a good idea to set-up the suspension a bit better for me.

Short of buying a new rear shock and new adjustable front forks - what would one do to set up a 2000 M750 for a 220lb rider?  I have a feeling i'm squishing the rear down lower than it should be going.  Sometimes in a corner, it feel like the back end...floats, it's hard to describe...it just doesn't feel as stable or composed as I think it should be.  Any thoughts?  I searched and came upon the DucatiSuite suspension FAQs, but I'm looking to get more information.

If it's got the stock springs, it's too light for you. Stock springs are for skinny Italians

There's a few places that could help out. RaceTech http://www.racetech.com/ is one. You could send of the shock and forks for springs and the forks could get valves as well.  You'll want to get your weight, in ger for them so they can select the proper spring.

I don't think I could afford all that right now. 

Why does racetech say "Ideal Rider Weight for the Stock Spring  - 230lbs" on their site?

Can't help you there... unless they are referring to the spring rate....

But, the stock springs are for more like a 160 pounder. If you're rolling the stock springs, they are probably quite compressed and leaves the suspension little room to work. With less room to work, the rear won't be as composed or hooked up

I have no idea where RaceTech gets it's numbers from.  The factory spring is progressive, so maybe it will support 230 lbs just before it is totally squished, but it is way to soft for you.  PM ducvet or Speeddog for the correct spring rates for you.

Will do, thanks.    Maybe my tax return will end up buying me a new rear spring...
