Wet Bum Mod
«

Ive stumbled over here from Oz Monsters. Attracted by a practical mod. And this is where my trouble lies and hopefully here is where my help may come from.
So hi all and let me explain my troubles:
So the second mod I ever did to my 696 was to remove the tail and put in a Comp werkz fender eliminator. Cosmetically the best thing Ive done to date. Practically, well maybe not so. Unfortunately I ride every day (or fortunately). And well the wet days with no fender gives me a wet ass. Not comfortable or attaractive. Now I dont expect to avoid the rain, just the wet road. Or more the wet on the road that's finding its way up the rear tire and onto my back.
So winter appraoching, weather shittening, Im thinking of ways around this (without putting it back on). Im thinking perhaps a custom CF rear hugger, a few inches longer than the stock. What are you lot with chopped tails on this rainy board doing for such predicaments.
Soppy But.

see if you can fab up a fender like the new multistrada, someone else here was thinking of putting it on their 800. looks better than a giant carbon one wrapped around the entire wheel

...weather shittening...
For over 40 years I've been flexing my vocabulary muscles by using "shit" and forms of "shit" as nouns, verbs, adjectives, but never in this way!!

haha. If you know, met or ever spoken to an Aussie, youd appreciate how we love to make up words or bastardise the bugger out of it). Oh and "bugger" means something completely down here.
Im lovin the multistrada concept DucatiTorrey. Wonder where I could get one and or what it looks like on the monster.

Done that
. But I dont want to get around in wet weather gear just cause the road is wet. Its gets super humid down here in summer and that wet weather gear aint the most comfortable gear to wear when its hot & sweaty out.

Try fabbing a small piece that matches the size of your license plate but extends about 3" or so from the bottom, tapering from the width of the plate to about half the plate width. You might have to make a couple until you find the minimum lenght to get the coverage you want. Easy to install when the weather looks bad and remove when it looks clear for a while. Can be either plastic or aluminum.

If you make the part that goes under the license plate fit just between the plate mounting bolts you can install and remove it just by loosening the bolts, you won't have to remove them all the way. It will clamp between the plate and mount.

This is a great idea. I've often considered trying it since i've removed my hot dog tray. And this idea, quick install and removal, is just brilliant.
