A bomb so big it rattled windows and was heard 20 miles away would have been seen. Nobody saw anything.

It was the Large Hadron Collider, when they ran it today the sound was heard elsewhere yesterday.

Agreed. I still say sonic boom...but the earthquake boom theory could very well be it too. I hadn't ever heard of those before.
