My only question, how do you protect the screen? I close my MacBook, the screen is protected. After going thru 4 screens on a slider phone in 2 years, I'm afraid of a gadget that is likely to get cracked while in the bag. If the solution is to put it in a big protective case; how is that better than just carrying my MacBook?

Reports said they sold 700k of them already.

not much of a surprise; I don't think they've laid an egg since before the original Imac came out.

if you like the iPad's functionality and physicality, but are a content creator of any kind, then you should wait for the WePad.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

They sell cases to protect them.

the ATT service absolutely sucks as I have traveled all over this country as well.  It's an option and with no contract i'd be more likely to spend a little extra dough but what unravels me the most has yet to be answered.  Since I have Itunes on my Mac can I then toggle my Ipod or Iphone to the PAD with wings without it erasing my content on my device?  It's my music and my computer so can it be done (I can't from my pc laptop to my mac right now)?  If you say no then I'm burning all hopes of getting a PAD and going elsewhere.  Tired of dictatorships and unlocking the Iphone was a pregnant dog.

Now Ducatiz......enlighten us please.

Explain to me what Air Video is.

http://www.inmethod.com/air-video/index.html

It's a tool for on-the-fly transcoding and streaming video, for example from your home Mac to your iPhone.  That means that I can have a terabyte or more of movies and TV shows on my desktop computer at home, all of varying formats (mp4, m4v, mov, avi, wmv, asf, mpg, mpeg, mkv, 3gp, dmf, divx, flv) and resolutions (including up to 1080p), and watch any of those files anywhere on my iPhone.

Can anyone with iPad try this

-- add to your iTunes Library a PDF document  [File > add to library > select PDF doc (yes, you can do that )]
-- create a smart list ( Kind contains PDF )
-- then see if you can sync it to iPad and read it?

That is one thing that is critical for me to know before possibly getting it  (well maybe 2nd generation).  I have tons of PDF books (tech books) that I would like to be able to read on the iPad I suppose.

This technique does not work; that playlist with a text-only PDF in it that I created as you described above simply gives the error "No Music".

But that's because the iPod application doesn't do text.  It'll look inside a PDF and play audio therein, I'm guessing, but not text.

HOWEVER, there are plenty of ways to read PDFs on iPad.  Here are 4 that I'm aware of and have actually used:

1) Buy GoodReader for $0.99.  Cheap, easy.  It's optimized for reading large PDF files, and is well reviewed, and includes a WiFi sync feature sorta like Air Sharing, that I found easy to use.  Docs look great.

2) Buy Air Sharing for $9.99.  It's got a less optimized PDF viewer, but still works pretty well, is a generic WiFi/http replacement for a USB thumb drive, and displays lots of other formats besides, including video.

3) Buy Comic Zeal for $7.99.  It'll display PDFs, as well as CBZ and CBR comic archives.

4) Batch convert your PDFs to EPUB format using the free calibre, and drop thsee EPUBs into the iPad's iBooks reader.

And, here are more options that I've not used, but that are available right now:

A) PDF Reader Pro Edition for iPad, $3.99

B) PDF Word Excel File Viewer, $0.99

C) iAnnotate PDF, $6.99

D) GoDocs, $3.99

E) Readdle Docs for iPad, $4.99

I thought the whole Flash on Mac products came around from Steve jobs shitfight with Adobe over licensing fees or something like that.
Also the limited resources available on an iPhone or iPad.

I remember something on Attack of the Show about the whole Flash not on Apple mess.
