In other news: Apple still has no intention to support Adobe Flash. No explanation why. Perhaps none is needed, because think about it: when Apple blocks Flash-based sites like Hulu, users get “incentivized” (as Tony Soprano might say) to buy content instead from Apple's iTunes store. You got a problem with that?

Another reason for Apple to hate Flash is that Flash lets developers build games and other apps that run in a browser. Therefore those developers could sidestep the App Store, which would deprive Apple of the chance to take 30 percent of the money people spend buying the app itself and then 40 percent of any advertising revenue that gets generated when people are using the app.

i am sure you will correct me if i am wrong, but there simply are not that many html5 sites/programmers around.  i haven't even heard of it until this thread.

does Newgrounds.com use HTML5?

someone please PM me the "idiot's guide" to unlock my Iphone 3Gs version 3.13.  That way I can use my Iphone as a WIFI and kick the extra $130 to the curb.  Wife is dead set she wants to read books on this toy and being in anniversary mode I can't deny the woman any longer.  She says nothing about my accessorizing bikes left and right so it's only fair.

well, wife wanted one for anniversary so I got one (customer return at Best Buy) for 10% less than retail. Didn't hurt as badly but she's happy so that's all that matters.

The more I use my ultra portable laptop, the more I wish I had gone with a ipad.  I think it would have done 99% of what I needed, and been more friendly at the same time. The lack of instant on and off with a laptop, that is probably the most frustrating thing about carrying this around and why an Ipad would be great (I am assuming they have a startup time like an ipod (5 seconds)?  And, having a fan, even though it is super small and hard to hear, still gets old.

swap to a solid state drive instead of a regular HDD, turn off most of the services and autorun stuff and it cuts the start up time immensely.

It is pretty fast now, less than 20 seconds = not really my complaint.  More like when I am done for a while, I just never know what to do with it, sleep, hibernate, shut down, nothing.  It is like I have to look into the crystal ball and estimate when I will use it next.

If I just had a on and off button, no pondering required.  Sometimes choice is bad for a pragmatist.

I went the morning of the 3rd and picked up 3. I sold 2 on ebay and my girl bought a 32gb because she knew I wouldnt buy it myself. a couple hours later we were on a cross country flight and watched two movies and it still had 80% battery left. I fly a lot so it works for my needs, but she rarely lets it out of her clutches after she found out she actually liked it  I'll probabl buy a second one but wait until the 2nd gen when they add a front facing camera and some more connectivity. If it suits your needs its a good product.

And Calibre is awesome! I converted all my pdf books and dumped them into itunes, they appeared on my Ipad bookstore moments later - i was happy about it. and now my girl can read "Love in the time of Cholera" in bed without having to worry about papercuts

I am not trying to pile on here, but kind of a bummer.  No output to TV, projector, etc in many (or most cases) via VGA adapter

ok so wife and I are going to the wilderness this Saturday for a week.  I downloaded some stuff and now can't find the tv shows.  I'm an idiot so treat me with kid gloves and help me find these things.......please.
