Next bike help please
«
on:
April 07, 2010, 09:13:18 AM »
Anyone feel like recommending a next bike? I am always thinking about the next bike, so I am wondering if there are any good prospects I have missed. Here is what I would like in the next bike: adjustable front and rear suspension; probably at least a half fairing; relatively light (wet weight under 480) ; reasonable seat height (around 32 inches and under is fine); around 800 cc's; and lastly ABS would be nice also.
Any advice would be great!
Thanks!

SV1000. Higher in the cc department than you stated but it pretty much meets all the other stated requirements.
Dry weight: 407.9-416.9 (depending on model)
Seat Height: 31.9
Available as a half faired model (and I think full faired)
Adjustable front and rear suspension
Available ABS
Everything else on the bike is pretty good as well! And Fast! [moto]
I think the MSRP on the S model(usually full faired) is under 10k with the half faired and naked models respectively cheaper.

Yeah the BMW will work too! Guess someone should change the name from DMF to DM/BMWF.

Uh . . what do you want the bike for?
Cuz a VFR is a bad cruiser, a SV1000 is a bad supermoto, and a F800 is a poor trackbike.

I don't believe the suspension is adjustable.

+1 This is more important than all the requirements you gave.

The SV1000 immediately popped into my mind. I done some track time on one and it's a really great bike.
I've also spent some time on the BMW F800. Also a really cool bike. I'd actually like to get one at some point.
Triump Street Triple R.
I'd say look for a nice used Aprilia Falco. I've always wanted one.....

I want an all around bike, probably more on the standard end. I want a bike that is more stable and more comfortable on the highway than my 696.

The Street Triple is on the list. I'd also consider the F800S/ST.

You probably want something in the touring category. I'd go for something in the Ducati ST family, maybe an ST3. Plus you can still take the ST3 on some canyon jaunts!
On my "next" list for sure. With saddle bags!!

What is the seat height of an ST3?
I was thinking along the lines of an FZ1 or a 2010 Z1000. Any thoughts?
