Because sometimes when you are sitting around on your huge pile of money it doesn't occur to you that there are starving and homeless children dieing of some preventable disease due to unclean drinking water nearby. What may occur to you is that you have an over-riding desire to invest huge sums of time and money to build something completely useless but sure to get great reactions from people such as, "Wow! Hey, cool. I guess. Whatever. Wanna chew some Qat and watch camels spit on tourists?"

And I'll ask why he didn't build it with attention to detail if he was going to dump that much money into it?

I'll let some of the smaller nit-picky errors slide.

But the windshield frame's all wrong.  The MB was a round tube frame, split windshield, with no rectangular insets beneath the glass.  The frame he built is what would've been found on a CJ-3A or M38.

And the grille of an MB had 9 slats, not 7.
