How could you not root for that?! Every time he came around a corner we were off our chairs in hysterics.
He looked like a dog hanging its tongue out the window...  At 200MPH

Now you know why they don't have re-view mirrors  laughingdp

exactly ... this is why rossi has so many fans.

can you imagine schumacher wearing a helmet like that?  even better, can you imagine ANY other global sports figure wearing "VVLF" on their leathers/clothes, like rossi has for years?

and that fact that rossi always looks like the little monkey with the cymbols when he is interviewed post race, just cracks me up. (ok, so zina thinks he also looks like steve mcqueen ... perhaps)

It's a sweet helmet but give Drudi some props.  That's a world class portrait painted on that helmet.

I think the helmet works so well because Rossi always seems to be looking at his front tire. Seriously, when I have photographed him and other riders at Laguna, the other riders are all doing the normal stuff, looking through the turn, while Rossi just appears to be staring at his wheel. I have no idea how he does that.

I think it just looks like that because of the tilt of his helmet. Under his wind screen his eyes are actually popped out of his head and periscoping around. That's just what I hear.  cheeky

I also heard it was the painter's idea. He took a photo of Rossi pulling that face then : presto on helmet-o. What a job waytogo

On a VERY MINOR tangent, this actually answers a question I was going to post.  My coverage? broadcast? reception? of the GP races is always crap.  So blotchy and scattered that it's impossible to watch.  I'm guessing that, since you could see his helmet while watching, you CA folk do not share this problem.

BTW, the WSB coverage is always crystal clear.  Weird.

he's looking for reasons to blame the tire manufacturer, in case he does not win.  "eh ... my tire, it goes round and around ... but then it stops ... berry berry bad for me, for sure."
