Rear Spring change for 696
«

Ok so i'm doing research and can't find the answer. The stock 696 spring is a progressive rate spring. The ohlins upgrade is single rate spring.
What is the single rate spring rated at on the ohlins?
AND would a showa single rate spring from an 848 be a good swap for the 696 stock sachs?
btw i weigh 160-165 w/o gear and sometimes ride 2-up

Whoever you buy it from you should make sure they swap the swing regardless, so this is a moot point.

On the older monsters,Absolutely not its too soft. but the spring is different on the new ones so i cant be for sure.
eitherway, buy a proper brand new spring for your shock. its only $100. I doubt a stock 1098 spring would be the right rate anyway. SBKs have a lot more weight in the front.

You need to call a suspension guy to figure out the proper spring for your bike and your weight if no one has a chart here, or knows off hand. I only know how to get the right rate for the older bikes (theres a chart). Whoever you buy the spring from, should be able to tell you what range of springs would fit you based on your style of riding/bike setup.
If your wondering if the spring will PHYSICALLY fit, all you need to do is measure the diameter of the spring, circumfrence of the spring coil and length of the spring, and you can find a match. if the above pic is of a 696 ohlins spring on a 696 shock, then just buy that model, with the right spring rate...which again, i dont know for the new bikes.
so the 01092-49/130 is a 170mm spring at 130N/mm
pfja, how much do you weight? (ha that rhymed) maybe with that you can get a range of what you should be atleast looking at. make some calls to ohlins

Wherever you end up getting your spring, please let me know. I attempted to communicate with Ducati Indianapolis as I had heard they could help, but I haven't heard from them in a loooong time. I'm starting to wonder if either a) they don't want anything to do with me (totally possible) or b) the guy I was talking to left (if so, hopefully amicably).

Can't help much as when I ordered mine it came with a corrected spring and valving.
I bought it from Kyle racing,

I think they could answer your questions. They are very helpful and could build you what you need.

as i assumed. It isnt even heavy enough to keep the bike from sagging on itself.

Your not goign to find that info without talking to someone that has experience with those shocks.
no dealer you can call?
i know for sure where you can get this info, and buy the spring for $110 bucks. its my own local shop. they got me the right spring for a 999 shock installed onto my monster. I also have the 1098 shock but its sprung for a 200lb rider on a monster.
