Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the whole game.  Only portions of the first and third periods, but your description fits.  Strong puck possession, good fore/back checking, physical play. 

I also saw a lot of Miller/Eaves/Abdelkader/Helm out there tonight.  They remind a lot of the "Grind Line" from back in the day.

To quote Micky Redman..."Wings put on a clinic". Great game for Wings fans, but boy, too close a series for the weak hearted.

Second round will be a very good round. I predict Chi/Van will beat the hell out of eachother...not gonna matter who wins that one, Det/SJ will be more of a shootout and winner of that series should go the distance.

I really hate to say it because I kinda like Montreal but I hope the Caps get their shit together and win.  If not, I think it's a given that the Penis will make the Finals again.  God, the East just blows.

All those years in DC I came to expect a Caps collapse and for it to come in a painful, embarrassing fashion, but this is ridiculous. C'mon, fellas!

That said, I've got a soft spot in my heart for Montreal as well -- back when I was a kid and had hockey dreams (in Texas of all places) Ken Dryden was my biggest hero.

Monday Caps game was painful to watch.  11ty billion shots on goal and nothing went in.   It was like damn hockey foreplay.  Fingers crossed for tonight.

the season should be 2 months long and the rest should be all playoffs. lol.


the only interest i have in the caps game is that i don't want either team to win. and i was on the edge of my seat cheering and groaning for both teams. it was great!

Habs / Caps almost turned it into a game at the end. Oh well. I feel for you Caps fans, as a Sharks fan, I was there last season. Now on to the Wings!  Going 1 for 4 this season against them isn't making me any more excited though. Should be a great second round.

The Wings have been there recently, too.  It really sucks.

I was watching most of the game and I can't help but think that I may be wrong.  The Habs shut down the best offense in the NHL and won 3 straight to close it out.  If they can do that to the Caps, I think they can probably do the same to the Peni, especially with the way Halak has been playing.  God, I hope so.

CHI / VAN should be a heck of a grudge match.  Here's hoping Bobby Lou stays shaky like he was early against LA.



A Detroit buddy of mine pointed out that the Red Wings had to flame out early in the playoffs a couple years in a row before they became that great team... I think that's where Ovie & Co are now.  Heartbreaker to Pittsburg last year, huge letdown to MTL this year... they're either going to plunge into the cellar or come back stronger next year.

Sabres playoffs ended when Vanek went down.  That team just wasn't deep enough to survive any more roster subtractions.

What the hell is going on in the East. 1, 2, and 3 seeded teams all out in 1st round  I'm not too shocked about the Caps though, too much up front and we all know that defense is what is most important in the Playoffs...or just a hot goalie.

Round 2 tonight  All the pressure is on SJ, cuz if they lose the opener, its 'Here we go again"
