I crashed on Memorial day---finally getting around to posting it up

As much as I would love to blame it on this, that or the other thing it was 100% my fault.

I was following my husband on his SV and a friend on an R6 on the Crest.  Jim had a car in front that pulled over for us, I did a quick check behind because I knew there were bikes coming up on us. Since I tend to ride a speed limit pace up there I get passed a lot. Ocassionally I get a crazy pass so I do tend to keep an eye on what behind me. As I was accelerating to go around the car I was caught out both by them pulling back in and the rider in front of me slowing down. I grabbed way too much front brake and down I went. I got up swearing a bluestreak because I was so mad at myself. Also, when I looked back to the front I fixated and wasn't nearly as close to the R6 as I felt like.

In hindsight; my attention was split when it should have been totally in front of me, I shouldn't have been surprised by the car- it wasn't really that unpredictable and I certainly never should have locked it up - I know better

So yes, I crashed at the speed limit in a straight piece of road [roll]

The bike crashed pretty well. The bars are bent, the tank is dented and I need a new mirror other than its in good shape. We checked it and decided to head down. My husband rode the Monster down and I took his SV.

As for me, I'm pretty much OK. We did go to the ER because of my knee was cut and my wrist was sore. I have stiches in the knee, Its not actually roadrash but a three inch cut. The ER called me back Tuesday to let me know that the wrist that they said was just bruised was in fact broken. I now have a cast which is a huge pain in the butt.

First crash on the street in 26,000 miles  :-[ :'(

Woo-Hoo!  You're going to be OK!!!!!!

Sorry about the crash, but sounds like you've learned from it already which is very important.  The bike can be fixed so fret not...  Just plan out your healing and don't cut the cast off early (even though you may want to).

Sorry about the mishap April,

You know what you did wrong and what to improve on so your ahead of the game.

Get well and time to buy better pants ;D

Ciao Fun

Glad to hear you're okay.  Please heal up quickly so you can come out to the track and do some proper crashing!  It's actually quite fun to slide along on the asphalt without the risk of an oncoming SUV.

Happy healing (wherever your cast is).
