Rear Axle Threads

I've searched all over, but can't seem to figure this out. I'm sure I'll feel like an idiot when y'all tell me what's up...

I removed my rear wheel to get a new tire installed. Now, a few days later when I'm back to putting it on, I'm confused about the axle. It has about double the thread on one side as the other. Which side goes on the sprocket side?

Thanks,

It really doesn't matter.

Unless I'm missing something, the axle is threaded equally on both ends. Just put it through and even things up.

I figured it was a DSS, and regardless of axle size it's the same.
