Kit Cars

Has anyone built a kit car before? I absolutely love GT40s, and there are a bunch of places that sell kit versions of them.

It was a piece of shit, there are some really good kit cars out there, you just have to find the right one.
I personally am going to build a beck 550 spyder at some point.

I put my vote in for anything Factory 5 builds. They have their kits down pat.

The trick to kit-cars is the fit and finish. If the kit is good (you'll pay more $ for it generally but do some research first) then the finish bits are handled. If the kit is shit....then a LOT of little stuff is left up to the final builder. It's that little shit that can drive you bonkers.
Personally, I think Factory 5 has it down...but I have no FHE with them personally...

My brother in law has bought 3 in various stages of completion....mainly completed. A Cobra with a 460 school bus motor in it, a Lamborghini Countach and some 250 hp dune buggy that would wheelie in second and was just plain scary! I think he got really good deals through ebay and like I said, he just had to do basic stuff to bring them up to cool! Theres also a kit car show in Carlisle PA that he goes to every year.
He grew out of kit cars and recently built his own Gyrocoptor.....the boy aint right.
On a side note, I thoought the Lambo was awesome until I tried to install myself (get in the bloody thing) which literally took 3 minutes. Extricating myself took about 5!

Yeah man, this is what I'd get if I had the $$$/time/knowledge/space. There is one local to NZ which does a 7 replica, they have a good rep...

I like the Factory 5 Daytona Coupe kits. Since only like 9 real ones were ever built, having one of those would be special. And cheaper too.

If not a F5 kit, than a Beck Spyder.
