'95 m900 gauge options

I'm ready to start looking at replacement options for my gauges. I'm running the old DP dual gauge setup. The tac has never been all that great since I first got the bike used in 2003. Then the face plate screws fell out and that pretty much made the tac useless. Eventually it broke too. Now my back light has gone out the speedo so I can't see how fast I'm going at night. I'd open them up and fix them if they had removable bezels. Sadly they don't and I don't feel like going through the hassle of cutting them open and fixing them and then gluing them back together.

Anybody got any suggestions for replacements? It doesn't necessarily have to fit the mount although that'd be nice. What kind of restrictions am I looking at? Only analog stuff, right? Here's the current setup.

i have that same exact gauge setup. is your tach not mechanical driven? on mine, the backlight are just small dash lights that stick in the back of the gauges.

look about 1/3 of the way down and you'll find a new replacement for you.

on the screw that fell out are you talking about the small one on the back of the gauge like in my second picture? if so, those can easily replaced. it's like and m5 that about 15mm's long. you just drop a new screw in the backlight hole, and wiggle it around til it falls through. mine broke loose and fell out when i was using a die to clean the threads up.

Ah, I don't have to open the gauge part for the backlight? Awesome!

The screws that fell out on my tac are the 2 that keep the faceplate from spinning. The two tiny screws on either side of the needle itself. See how on mine you can see one of the screw holes just under my clock? I still have the screws there inside the gauge. I just can't get the thing open to fix it. During it's time of neglect, I think the tac has broken anyway.

Looked at those. Nothing that quite fits what I want. I'd like to use the existing frame and just swap the actual gauges. I guess I could pop them out and just measure them and get regular old gauges.

I have the DP tach - mine's not mechanically driven. For some reason I thought that was only on the older SS models. Mine is a simple plug in at the coil/igniter box area.

Pre EFI bikes (<2000) you need to hook the tach to the coil/igniter box, the '00-'01 bikes had a tach input signal on one of the pins on the round connector.

your idiots lights are probably all burnt out or bulb connections have green corrosion. mine were like that. i kinda ditched the cluster because of the condition mine was in and those bulbs are like $2 each. it's a neat piece, but it's like having 2 softballs above my headlight.

yeah, the fiberglass on teh back of my cluster cracked, so I have to reinforce it and maybe use a washer to hold everything in.  I was going to wait until I was done working on my CB before messing with the Monster gauges, but I may crack it open if the bulbs are easily accessible.

i've been thinking about parting from mine since i don't use it. as soon as i sell it i'd probably shed a tear. why am i a hoarder?
