Tipping Motorcycle Shipper

Tipping is way out of control. I don't tip anyone anymore other than wait staff and bar tenders. Once the gimps at Starbucks started putting a tip jar on the drive through window sill, I had enough.

I agree, if shippers need to make more money start charging more. I am paying for a service at a specified price, that is all.

Also to the OP it really is cool that the shipper got it to you in 4 days but what if you planned to be out of town because it was supposed to be 7-10 days. Then what?

When I bought my bike off Ebay it was $540 to ship it. I forget what company I used at the time but they were great, no issues with it but I never felt the need to tip. I mean, they work on a grid, the truck only rolls out if it's full of bikes and heads towards it's destination region, all they do is ship bikes, it wasn't cheap, and to me the driver was simply doing his job= delivering my bike. Similarly I don't tip the Fed Ex guy either. I don't think a driver will turn down cash if you hold it out to him so I guess it's all up to you how you want to spend it.

With that said, I have tipped traditional moving companies generously but that's because they lugged my furniture for several hours. With the bike shipping the guy opened the back of the truck and I did most of the work to wheel the bike out, it was more like a package delivery than anything else...

Those were my sentiments as well.  I paid to have my bike shipped, and while the truck driver was a nice guy, I helped him get the bike off the back of the truck.  If it's moving guys, and they are literally picking up the boxes and packing and unloading the truck from/to my house, then I'd tip.  But for the bike, he was just delivering and I don't think that warrants a tip.

I think the shipper would rather get couple cold beer than getting some tips !
ha , great info. I think I won't tip the driver the amount I had in mine originally then.
