I am sorry for your loss, my heart goes out to you.

It is the right thing to do and sadly.... knowing that it is ..well, it never makes it any easier

the only thing more painful than doing this,,, is watching your pet continue to suffer

my heart goes out to you

After a rough couple of weeks, we have decided to put our loving faithful sheppard/chocolate lab mix to sleep on tuesday.  She is 13YO and has had a great life.  Heres to you, lucy....  You are my best friend and  loyal companion.

So sad to hear this news brix.  :'(

You still have one more day together though, right?

If so, try to do as many things together as possible..without over doing it and rushing the day, of course.

When we decided to put our Pug to sleep (we had to in a hurried decision when he started having hourly seizures), we still had two days to spend wih him.  We took him for a long ride as he sat in my lap in the car, the park, we took a lot of pictures together, gave him his favorite foods, etc.

The doctor come to the house and put him down in the living room so we could all be together someplace that was familar and comfortable for him.

If possible, hold Lucy close to you and put your face in hers so she can smell you as she falls alseep.

It's tough to deal with.  :-\

It is the hardest parts of owning a pet, they become a very intricate part of your family and your life.
And you know that at some stage you will have to let them go.....

I still get upset over past furry friends....

They may be gone, but they will live on forever in our hearts and minds.

TREAT ME KINDLY

Treat me kindly, my beloved friend,
For no heart in all the world is more
rateful for kindness than the loving
heart of me.
Do not break my spirit with a stick,
For though I should lick your hand
between blows, your patience and
understanding will more quickly
teach me the things you would
have me learn.

Speak to me often, For your voice is
the world's sweetest music, as you must
know by the fierce wagging of my tail
when your footsteps fall upon my ears.

Please take me inside when it is cold
and wet, For I am a domesticated
animal, no longer accustomed to the
bitter elements. I ask no greater glory
than the privilege of sitting at your
feet beside the hearth.

Keep my pan filled with water, for I
cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.
Feed me clean food that I may stay well,
to romp and play and do your bidding,
to walk by your side, and stand ready,
willing and able to protect you with
my life, should your life be in danger.

And, my friend, when I am very old, and
I no longer enjoy good health, hearing
and good sight, do not make heroic
efforts to keep me going.

I am not having fun. Please see that my
trusting life is taken gently. I shall
leave this earth knowing with the last
breath I drew, that my fate was always
safest in your hand.

The unconditional love of a dog can  come at a high price sometimes.  The only treatment for the grief is a puppy and it has the same sting attached in the future.  Take Care and know that many of us here hold you and yours in our thoughts.
This isn't a dress rehearsal for life - this is it!

Sorry to hear about your dog, Brix.

Having just lost one about a month ago, the pain and sadness are still fresh in my mind and always will be.

But we had some great times and memories over our brief time together, but they will never be forgotten.

Make sure you pup says hi to mine in Heaven. He is Alex. He is probably sleeping on a bed or couch. Then eating Taco's then sleeping again.

She's beautiful.  RIP Lucy

It takes a wonderful and caring person to make the right decision to end their pup's suffering before it goes too long. You're doing the right thing by your pup and I know what a horrible feeling it is to have to do it.

My heart and thoughts go out to you and yours........may Lucy live forever in your hearts.
