Well, I got a set of 748 Fairings and a cockpit fairing support ordered up.

Any good write ups on this kind of install? If not, any intrest in HAVING one?

I know there is one guy out there at least who has done this sort of thing, but I havent seen much of a how-to or even a feasibility study.

You may be able to get some pointers even though it's a different generation.

Yup, thats the guy!

I'm curious about the tail section...May just have to wait til I got all the pieces.

I thought about trying that on my S2R1000 but spent all my money on a BMW instead. [bang]
I think I'd go for 888 bodywork myself.

Hmmm....so I got my fairings in today. I can all ready tell the seat is going to be the most difficult part. We'll see what happens  :-\

Duckstew builds an aluminum replacement for the rear frame. maybe he could give you some pointers on changing out the rear to fit the new seat.

The sides are only ziptied on, and the cockpit fairing isnt really attached at all. Thats because a fairing stay meant for a 748 holds the nose WAY too high. The levers hit off of it real bad.

Now, if you dont have bars as low as I do, it might not be an issue. Your levers woul be higher AND not pointed as low. But this is how I want this to be. SO....i dont know.

I'm going to have to figure something out for the fairing stay. I have metal rings with a  1/4" thick 2" long tab off the front, but I need to find a way to attach a 748/996 fairng stay to it. Im hoping that yoyodyne can hook me up with somehting. I'l be calling them tomorrow.

but I like the way it looks so far. You'll notice the tail isnt on. make the beast with two backs <---(whats the story behind that? that. I'll deal with that after the front section. The windscreen will be here soon too...

(and keep your comments to yourself on the tank :P

Good luck finding that.  Bodywork for the 851 and 888 is pretty rare anymore.

If it was a normal 851 Strada, that might be a bit high unless it was in top shape.  The more valuable ones are the SP2, SP3, and SP4 models.  The SP5 was a higher performance 888 and not sold in the USA.  The 888 SPO - the one I have - is the same as the SP5 but with the lower horsepower Strada engine that more easily meets the emission requirements here.  They're worth $8-10K.

Looks like there was a complete set of 888 bodywork on eBay recently that sold for $2125.00.

It seems to be missing a couple of black plastic pieces that go next to the radiator, doesn't include the mirrors, and there might be one or two other things missing.  That is not a stock seat.  I'm tempted, but that's a lot to pay from some spares.
