For others who've drooled over the lovely CRG bar end mirrors, but had trouble parting with the $130 ++ for the set, there is an outstanding deal to be had on eBay. At around $40 for the pair including shipping, these are a very high quality knock off that appear nearly identical to the real deal. I've had them on my 620 for a couple of months & am about to get another set for my new S4RS. These have slightly tinted glass & do not vibrate at all on my 620. Finally! a clear view of what's behind me. I haven't tried it, but I'd venture a guess these would also work with the lane splitting link from CRG. (Not to knock CRG as they make fantastic products, it's just the mirrors are a little $teep!)

I learned of these mirrors a couple months back on the old board, but thought I'd bring the knowledge to the forefront!

How do you have them mounted?  With the adapter, or on the bar itself?  Thanks!

It comes with the adapter that goes into the bar. That's how I've got it setup because it didn't require moving any controls. The adapter part itself they come with is not the nicest, but it does the job ok. I've seen nicer billet ones out there...

Nice. I saw some on eBay once that were Lanesplitter copies as well, for much less money. Good to see less-expensive alternatives. I wonder if the quality is really the same though. I have the CRG levers and the Lanesplitters, both of which have alternatives that cost nearly half as much. In Hindsight [laugh] I wonder if I shouldn't have bought the clones and saved some money.

Thanks, I just got a similar set in, and the adapters dont fit into the bar end...  No problems with yours, I guess?

I have a pair of both the CRGs and the eBay knockoffs. Although they look identical from a few feet away there are several slight differences in their manufacture and build quality.

Being a stickler for good engineering and build quality I have studied both of them closely.
Here is a breakdown on the differences between them (followed by my thoughts in parentheses)

The CRGs

Are cut from billet aluminum on a CNC machine.
( The machined parts are not finished after being machined so the pattern the bit travels in as it cuts the aluminum can still be seen on the mirror housing)
When you get them in black they are anodized.
( The black anodizing turns purple after about a year)
The mirror glass is mounted with an itty bitty lip machined into the housing and a tiny screw.
( Myself and several other people from TOB have had the mirror glass fall out.)
The mounting bracket that goes inside the bar uses a multiple plate wedge that puts even pressure on the inside of the bar.
(It's a little overly complex but works really well)

The eBay knockoff

Made from cast aluminum.
(Casting quality is very good. But the screw holes aren't cleaned after being taped, which can muck up the threads when the screws are installed)
When purchased in black they are powder coated.
(not as nice as anodizing but it doesn't fade)
The mirror glass is ground around the edge after its made.
(CRGs glass is not ground so this is a nice touch considering their low cost)
The mirror glass is secured by two plastic inserts with a little lip on them and a very similar tiny screw.
(The plastic lip inserts don't look as nice but function better then the CRGs the tiny screw also comes with a larger plastic washer)
The mounting bracket that fits inside the bar is a cone wedge that works with the same principle as most concrete anchors do.
( The wedge only grips a very tiny portion of the bar so it doesn't work as well as the CRGs design)

Sorry if this is hard to read but I don't feel like reformatting it.

I have these mirrors.  The previous poster was exactly right, they're cast aluminum (where the CRG are billet).  Which means if you over torque the mounting clamp it will break.  Ask me how I know!  Anyway, they function well and the price is right but if you get them then pay attention when you're putting them on.

Capo

I have the CRG lane splits, broke the glass in one, bought a pair of knock offs and used them for spare parts, everything fits OK.
The knock offs have a black delrin ball whereas the CRG's are white.

I almost bought a set of these myself but the seller is a complete moron. I asked him what the I.D. of the bars that they will fit and he had no idea what I was talking about.

I then followed up explaining to him I was looking for the measurement of the diameter of the inside of the bar they will fit or the diameter of the insert that is on the mirror. He still had no clue and wouldn't/couldn't measure it for me so I just found an alternative.

It amazes me that this guy doesn't have a bunch of bad feedback. How can you jsut list something for sale, not really have a clue what it fits, make a statement that it fits Ducati, Triumph etc and get away with not having a bunch of unhappy customers because the things don't fit?

THe finish on the cheap ones will flake in a few places.  Get some black nail polish and touch it up.

I just wish the cheap ones folded.  That would make life much easier.  bar mirrors are great except when you nee the side space cause you have 10 bikes in your garage (yeah yeah, i know, waaah)

I bought some of those (silver) from a different guy on ebay and paid less than that. Masked off everything except the arm and rattle canned flat black. The allen heads started rusting within two weeks, but found some stainless replacements for all of $7 that solved that problem. So far they work great, but have heard 2nd hand that they'll start bad vibing in a few months. All in all a good purchase I think. Shipping was uber quick.

AFIK S4 bars are 1.25" only under the mounting bracket in the center. They taper off to a smaller diameter towards the controls. What size they taper off to I don't know.

If you read my link you'll notice that I purchased the CRG lane split arms and swapped them out...thus you can have the cheaper mirrors AND the fold feature.
