The R1 at around 2:12 engine revs after the tire lets go, before that he was pretty steady on the throttle.

+1, besides the first guy, they more or less look like they were doing what they should be doing.

IMHO I wouldn't call that steady, i can hear it going in and out. anyways, weird spot. other than the t-shirts, didn't seem like they were riding like assholes.

I've ridden that corner many times, I don't consider it to be a very challenging corner apart from it is longer than one might originally anticipate.  Perhaps some of them had to change their apex because they weren't looking through the turn and lost traction?  Who knows, but it's amazing how some of those back tires stepped out like they did.

It's a common tourist spot, I don't think the camera operator had the intention of capturing only dumps, and who knows what the motivation was in making the compilation.  Could have been honorable, or a cautionary tool.

For sure mid-corner he was on and off the gas, but at the point of the low side it seemed like he had steadied out. Not trying to argue, just trying to figure it out. T-shirts and ICON chest guards make you go faster.

On the snake  section of Mulholland shown) its lack of rider skill and poor throttle control ( and that you can hear all over that video)... which leads to the rear stepping out and those dudes going down. There's far more difficult sections of canyon road nearby... but no cameraman to immortalize them....

i think most people who had the rear step out like that werent too hard on the throttle, in fact it was pretty neutral. all the revs were after the tire had unhooked and the wheel was aleady off the ground.

okay, I've refrained from replying long enough, but if you haven't been on that section of road before, saying things like "there's something fishy... the guy with the camera put sand on the road"  (yes, I know that's not the exact quote) is just plain dumb.

  That road is practically in my back yard. I know the cameraman.  He actually keeps a large pushbroom in his truck specifically to keep the roadway clean. 

I won't ride there on weekends between march and november if I can help it. There are just too many idiots who just plain can't ride out there. If I do ride the Snake on a weekend, I'll get up reeaallly early and hit it before 8am.  There are crashes in many different corners on that stretch of road.  This particular corner happens to have a very wide shoulder on the inside of the turn where sightseers, tourists, and the like sit and watch the bikes and European sportscars worth 100's of thousands of $$$ go up and down the road all day long. (Fabio crashed a Ferrari in that same corner a little while back... YouTube it.)

Just above the curve is a large turnout where riders will turn around and have another go at the Snake, or just take a break. The view is gorgeous!  That's why you see a lot of people hanging around.  They're not there "waiting to see someone crash" as someone said. 

The sheer amount of riders (100's and 100's) that go through this iconic section of Mulholland Drive on weekends is probably why there are more crashes on that section also. It's less than 10 minutes from the 101 freeway, and only a mile or two from the world famous Rock Store that Jay Leno is fond of frequenting.  I'm not trying to name drop or anything, just trying to explain the massive amounts of motorcycles that go through there.  It's just NUTS!  Lawbreaker and Speeddog and a few others can attest to that fact.

Anyway, sorry to come off all grumpy, but accusing people of deliberately putting sand or debris in the road in hopes the can catch a crash on camera is just asinine.

Ha.   I was about to post about how it looked fishy...   Seriously...it looked to odd to see the back ends all lose it that way.

I'd love to get out there sometime, when I feel I'm ready for it.  I don't think it's too far from me.
