So I've pretty much eliminated the idea of buying rearsets because I just don't see spending the money on them.

However I would like to cut off the passenger portion of the stock ones and then powder coat everything.  I never use the passenger pegs and really don't want to have a passenger on the back anyways. I was thinking if I cut them off right past the rider pegs it would pretty cool.

Has anyone done this and have pics?

+1.

I've had the same thought and would like to see how it worked out.

I dont have pics as of yet, but many people including myself have modded them in different ways.  Do a search and you may find something.  I myself only cut the "tab" behind the passenger peg.  Found it a little obtrusive.   I kept the peg mount for that "just in case" moment when you may need to ride 2up. and for resale purposes.  Others have cut/grinded around the exhaust mount bolt, smoothed out and paint/powder coat.  Some have also even cut either upper or lower cross brace which goes towards the forward part of the peg carriers.

I tried about 5 or 6 different searches and came up with nothing.

What should I search for?

I'll be getting a used set to cut up so I'll have a set of stock ones too.

I'll be cutting right behind the exhaust mount.   I think it will look good with my high mounts.

When I get home tonight I will put up pics of the different ways to mod them.  I honestly cant remember how I searched them.  I think I even started a thread about the same topic.  There could be something there.

It has been done a lot. I could not find anything in a search though.

PM Bacon Junkie. His stock rear sets are cut. I'm not sure who did them but I'm sure he'll know.

The most expensive ducati performance 916 style pipes came with eplacement footrests which are basically stock ones cut down but with a new piec between the two ends for strength.

i looked at cutting mine but welding bits onto the original cast piece would be very difficult.
