I picked up a set of streetfighter mirrors expecting them to bolt right up... but they don't.  bang head  The bolt that comes with the streetfighter mirrors is much smaller than the original threaded mirror stalk.

Has anyone put these mirrors on a monster, and if so, how?

heh , i learned that the hard way. its not eays to do it. I bought Rizomas for a street figther, they are M6 bolts, You probably have the larger M8 bolts. its not easy to secure a left and right screw set to begin with because one of them is LH thread. So unless you want to do some time wasted modding to get some stock mirrors to work, forget about it.

I was just looking at some pix of the Streetfighter cockpit.  Couldn't you just replace the mirror mounting handlebar hardware on the Monster with the same part off the Streetfigher and then just mount the mirrors to there?

How about filling the hole with JB weld and drilling and tapping the smaller sized thread.  You could drill and tap both standard RH thread.

That defintely wouldnt hold, the second you begin to tigthen that bolt, it would break into powder.

Plus those mirrors will act like a lever arm at speed so even if you manged to tigthen it down without breaking it, itll break once you get on the highway.

I thought about buying m10 bolts and shaving the head down. but you wouldnt have much to grab on. The other thing you could do is to remove the part that covers the bolt head and bore it out to accept an M10.

its an M10x1.25 pitch i believe. i have a set of RH and LH but not willing to let go of it.

My first thought was the same as Mojo's.  Try swapping handlebar mounts.

Youd have to find some to add. the mirror mounts to the master....

thinking of which, the hypermotard shares the same master as the SF, and they sell mirror mounts for it that clamp onto the handle bar. Im not sure if its M10 or M8 though. Rizoma makes them.

Where did you find the LH thread M10?

i bought the rizoma mirror mounts for an S2R1000. They came with 2 LH and 2 RH M10s. Im using 1 set and have the other tucked away safely. I couldnt find any LH M10 without buying a lot of them.

If you scroll about half way down this page, you'll see a mention of a mirror adaptor kit that from Yamaha that adapts the LH M10 thread to a standard M10 RH thread.  If you bought a set of these, permanently loctited some M10 threaded rod into them, and ground it flush with the adapter, you should be able to drill and tap a standard M8 thread for your mirrors.  You would of course need to use two standard RH M8 fasteners.

Great suggestion.  That's actually along the lines of what I'm trying to do.  I'm going to take a set of mouse ears and cut off the stems, then drill and tap for M8 RH threads on both.  I'm hoping the aluminum will be strong enough to hold the M8 bolts.

I'll try to post up the results once complete.
