Why won't an under triple mount work? How much larger is the crossmember of your frame at that spot? or is there something else there?

I'd really like one for track days, and before the next track visit, I'll probably go with the side mount.

But...
I know others have done the top mount with clip-ons, but I don't want to f-up my Cycle Cat top triple.  I know my radiator is there, but there might be enough room under the bottom triple for a custom mount.

For those of you in the know, is the radiator the show stopper for locating a damper under the bottom triple clamp?

I'd need to look at clearance - we've only got an M900 and an S2R 800 in the shop right now. I hear you about the CC top triple. Purse snatcher might be the way to go for you.

The other issue (not really applicable for you but worth mentioning) with under triple clamp damper mounts is the risk of front fender hitting damper under really heavy braking if suspension bottoms out (usually from improperly setup forks)

I looked at my setup again.  There's no way to have a damper under the lower triple with the radiator there.

Other than purse-snatcher, you are out of luck with the CC triple I believe.

Couldn't you use the S4 damper kit!?!?!  Should use the same bolts as your cyclecat adaptors to install.

Does that involve drilling into the Cycle Cat triple?  I'm certainly not drilling the triple for one or two track days per year.

I should just get a track bike.

Shouldn't.  It was bolt on for the s4, and don't you have the s4 cycle cat top triple!?!?

The CycleCat S4 and S4R triples are different, I believe.  I have the DBR34 (?), but it looks like the clamp for the damper uses the threaded hole for my riser clamps, so it might work.

That said, since I'd remove it when I'm not on the track, I'd probably just go with the purse snatcher.

Just found this reply from Monstermash in the thread cited above:

" I had to drill and tap holes for the mount. No worries, you can use this triple without the damper. Well if you can find one that is.  bang head"

So he did have to mod the Cycle Cat triple.

He used the S4 damper kit on a non-S4 triple clamp, so he HAD to drill.

Your triple clamp IS the S4 style triple clamp.   [thumbsup]

Here is an installation of a Scott radial damper mounted on a stock top triple clamp with Swatt clip-on bars,
A fellow rider in the area had developed this mounting and we had the pieces fabricated then slightly modified to fully conceal the 'pin' bracket inside the key/ immobilizer shroud.

i was out ;last night and had to lift my tank. you cant lift ur tank without removing the damper. -1 for bitubo. that damper loks awesome is it a oil or gas type?

Maybe, but now I don't think the damper would clear my risers.   [roll]   [laugh]
