Definitely hit Highway 199 from Crescent City to Grants Pass. Awesome road.

When I drove through there, I stayed on 101 all the way to Port Angeles, took the ferry to Victoria, and another to Vancouver. Actually, I did it in the opposite order, but same path overall. I stayed off of I-5 all the way.

If you're planning on taking 199, definitely check weather conditions. I would advise bringing tire chains, just in case. We may be in spring, but things have been crazy up there this year.

+1 on 199. Although you'll kick yourself for not riding it.
