why?
because it's available.

nobody needs all that HP or cornering ability. they WANT it. they want it because it's there and they want to feel taht power at their fingertips so to speak. they want it so they can tell other people how much better they are because they have it and can afford it.

Anywho, that car sure seems to be quite the piece of engineering and styling there. I can certainly appreciate that about it.

how much more capable is the potential of your computer over the amount of what you use it for?...why have the extra ability?

Am I speaking latin or something? I am not saying you should only have things as powerful as you currently have use for. AT ALL!! The question is about what is even possible to use. I could easily max out my computer by downloading a zillion songs and oddles of freeware and then stream a bunch video feeds while playing WoW or some shit.

As for my computer, I run a little lap top that I can't load down with a bunch of shit otherwise my drafting programs I actually use don't run at peak proficiency.

Getting a car or bike with so much power you'll never be able to use it is like buying a Cray Super Computer. Its senseless.

But I'm talking to a wall at this point. I give up. Bigger is always better. Always. I'll go slap a booster rocket on my ass now. I'll never ignite it but I'll still tell everybody I'm the fastest.

and in terms of what you are saying...I get where you are going...but you cn say the same thing about our ordinary cars as well as the supercars that we spotlight here...the fastest road in the USA is a legal 75mph???....what car with more than 4 cylinders is necessary then?....yes, I take the point to an extreme but to illustrate moreso what you are asking...your 620 is more than you need on the street, any street....a 125 or a 250 is more than sufficient legally speaking....

but this is America and bigger is better and faster is better and more is better....we live in excess with no real reason as to why...but we create alot of things that are answers to questions that are never asked in the name of excess....

Who said anything about the law? make the beast with two backs speed limits. I've already addressed that. How about riding/driving ability? How about the the laws of physics? You simply can't use that car to it's potential on the street. That being the case, my original question stands, why would this car ever need to be street legal. Its a race car and belongs on the track with a skilled driver in it. I noticed the promotional video is on a track. Why do you suppose that is?

And I don't think the 620 is more than is needed on the streets. We all know riders good enough to find the limits of a 620 on the street (insert your concerns about how safe that is here). Hell even I've found the top speed on the thing (a bit shy of 140 if I recall  ) Of course I have a long way to go to find the end of what it can do in corner. But I'm sure I can get there. At that point I'll get a bigger bike with better suspension.
