The new Porsche GT2 RS, 3020 pounds road ready, 620 horsepower...

How about $140M for this?

David Geffen sold it for that much.
I wouldn't hang it on my wall if someone *gave* it to me.

Since we are talking about outside the law then what's to say someone wont push it to its limit on public roads? What if someone wants a car they can drive to the track, kick ass, then drive home?

Looks slow. No aerodynamics whatsoever.

Red is faster, anyway.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

Precisely my plan for my Mustang. Can't afford the exotic stuff I lust after, so I must improvise.

I'm just trying to understand why someone would buy something that is not capable of ever being used.

Because they can.  I wouldn't waste much time trying to figure it out.

I find it disturbing that you're imagining me in a sauna, never mind the teletubbie aspect of it

If I could afford it, I'd absolutely own such a thing and absolutely occasionally do stupid things with it on the street that I'd be called a moron for doing. Every vehicle I've ever owned I've seen the top speed of at least once and found out where the limits are. Not on a daily or even monthly basis mind you but when the evil itch rose up high enough in my brain and overpowered my higher brain functions causing me to do dumb but fun things. Having such a car at my disposal would be no different and I've lost my license in a far less impressive car, at least in that one I could hold my head high and be proud that I'm a moron.

Published top speed is 205 but it will do faster. Ive seen footage of a gps verified 214 on an 04.  I also had a customer that would routinely hit 210 indicated with more to go.  Saddens me to say that my customer would do this on public west Texas highways.

That would probably be enough for me to break my string of see top speeds on my vehicles.
Although easily remedied by bringing it to an appropriate venue.  [thumbsup]
At upper 140's the scenery goes by amazing fast, 200+ on anywhere but some huge oval test track must be absolutely sick.
What kind of speed you think it'd achieve somewhere like the Maxton Mile?
A mile enough length to get close to top end?

It'll get you close but I don't think you'll top out.

plenty of long enough stretches around but smooth enough for 200+?
Doubt it would take much to launch way off track at that speed.  :P
