Why would that car need to be road ready? Why would you ever drive a car like that on the street? That is a race car. If it is driven off of the track it is a complete waste of engineering at best and a horrible mid-life crisis penis extender at worst.

If'n you can afford that car you can afford to spend some days learning to drive it properly in an environment that can handle that much car (hint: public roads ain't it).

Whos to say that car wont see track time?  You could also make that argument about the bikes we ride. S4R for the street? 1098 for the street?  See where I'm going with this?

I see exactly where you're going. Every time I see a 1098 (or an R1, etc.) on the street I wonder why. No one is finding the limits of those bikes on the street. Its absurd. Those bikes are track machines. This car is a track machine. This technology is wasted on the street. But I guess it wins every bench race it ever enters.

Don't get me wrong, I do agree with you to a point.  A few years ago I was in a 996 series GT2 running it through the gears.  Shifted into 3rd at about 90 in a straight line and it started fishtailing.  Scared the poo outta me. A regular 911 Turbo will scare the crap outta most people too.  You don't buy this type of car if you don't know how to drive one. Same as a 1098/R1 ect.  Your right you will never be able to fully exploit that car on the street.  But I could make that statement for any of the cars I work on.  What bike do you ride?  I have a M900.  I don't think I should be riding it as hard as I do on the street but that doesn't stop me.

I ride a little 620. Its as much as I need. I understand that some people need more than that. That's cool. I have no reverence for traffic laws and if people want to push limits of their bike on the street that's cool too. I hope they do it in a way that doesn't endanger others, but hey, have fun.

Here's what I find absurd: Cars and motorcycles bought for the street that CAN'T EVEN COME CLOSE to reaching their limits on the street. What is the point? I truly don't understand. Is it really just bragging rights and show off points one buys for all that money?

Why? So I can use about 50% of the bike underneath me? Its probably the suspension I would covet more than the power anyway.

Sigh. I'll try again.

I also like fast cars and fast bikes. But why have more power than you could ever possibly use? What is the point of that?

Ugh.  [bang] I have no complaint. None whatsoever. With you or your porschey friends. At all.  I'm just trying to understand why someone would buy something that is not capable of ever being used. I will go ahead and add this to my list of questions I've never been given a straight answer to from anyone, right below, "How is your life appreciably changed from one presidential administration to another?" and "Why does an omnibenevolent God allow his believers to suffer horribly?"

Why does someone need more power in a vehicle than is possible to ever use? A great mystery of our times.
