I will always ride a Ducati

I swapped my monster 696+ for a new monster 796. I felled in love again with my new monster Smiley. It does feel better to ride with it, my balls don't get crushed against the tank (as with the 696+). And it looks better as the 696, SSS, 180mm tire at the back. Red frame and more HP Smiley

here some first pics

what year was your 696 and how much difference did you have to pay for the 796... if you dont mind me asking. i was hoping to convince the GF to do the same with her 696 since i am the one mostly riding it.

very nice pics by the way. the red and black go very well together.

Bought my 696+ this year, did do 2.500 km with it. And my swap price was 1.500 euros. It's a lot of money but when I didn't swap my bike I will regret it. And it does sit and feel much better when I ride the 796.

The M796 is a very tempting option if you can't afford the M1100.  For $1000 USD more than the M696, my read is that you get 7 more BHP, a single sided swingarm, and a redesigned seat.  Otherwise, the bikes appear identical, with the same suspension and brakes and electronics.  In my mind, the SSS and modest power boost justifies the cost.

My question is the seat.  It is supposed to be slightly lower that the M1100, but it is still taller than your M696 seat.  It is also supposed to be reshaped to keep you from getting "monster balls".  Did you notice any difference in terms of seat height, width, sliding, padding comfort, and especially with regards to passenger comfort?

Yeah, i notice and feel the difference. I did sunday a trip of 300 km and my balls didn't get crushed against the tank. I am 1.85m and it feels better to ride and sit on this bike. It's a whole other kind of seat, more relax, anti-slip. But I didn't test the passengerseat yet. I will keep you informed.

Ducati website claims the M796 has 7 more HP and 8 ft/lb of torque than the M696.  My dealer said it is actually only 1HP more, but 6 ft/lb more torque, and that the torque increase is substantial enough to make a huge difference in apparent power.

What has your experience been?  Is there noticeably more oomph?

It does feel stronger and it has more power. But I can't go over 6k rpm atm, need to reach 1k km for first check up. Next week it goes back to the dealer for the first check up and putting my termni's on it. Will keep you informed about the driving experience Smiley

Very nice looking, anything except red, over the red frame, looks balls IMO.
Would have to adjust to the look of the exhaust, Termi's would help, I'm sure
I could deal with it!
Still sad to see Ducati continue to put out larger and larger bikes, but that is a nice looking machine.

I think it has bigger/better wheels also?

Let me know how the passenger likes it--this may be the "new" bike for me.  I see they sell grab handles also, and they don't look too bad.

Thanks for the link.  Yeah, the handles look fine.  Can't wait to see the bike in person.

Me too.  If I don't get a used 1100 locally, this is the way I am going to go.
